‘Because you told me that you need time to feel at ease. So I figured that you will tell me about yourself when you are ready.’
‘Thank you.’ Tina said quietly
‘Was that the question?’
‘No…I wanted to ask you if you have ever been in a comitted relationship!?’
‘Yes I have but it is over for awhile now. I know that my reputation doesn’t indicate that I can be monogamous but I am. I have never cheated on anyone. Have you been in a relationship?’
Tina knew that this question would come up but she didn’t want to talk about it. But Bette was understanding, open and considerate. Someone you can trust. So Tina found the strength and opened her heart. Not much but enough to let some feelings out.
‘Yes I have been in a relationship. And I agree. I am also monogamous. For me there is no other way. When I love someone I give everything of myself to that person. Mind, body and soul.’
‘That sounds like we have alot in common. Books, movies, music and the things we want from a relationship.’
‘Yeah but I still don’t understand you. There are so many questions’
‘Like what?’
‘It starts with why we met here at your place and not somewhere outside? Is it because you don’t want to be seen with me? I mean I…’
‘No…Tina…no…It is not that I don’t want to be seen with you…frankly I would feel honored to go out with you on my arm…but I thought we wanted to get to know each other. For me it is very hard to relax and open up in public. There is always someone who knows me or a camera around. It is annoying and I didn’t want to scare you off because of this crazy reputation of mine. We would have been in the tabloids tomorrow. And that is not what I wanted for our first date. I really like you and I hope you like me too!?’
‘Yes I like you. You are not what I expected.’
‘Should I be offended?’ Bette said with a small smile
‘No the opposite. When we first met I didn’t know you and I thought you were shy and very sweet. Later Shane told me about your reputation and I was confused because you didn’t seem like a heartless player. And then you caught me breaking into your apartment and instead of calling the police you asked me out on a date. Now I am sitting here and talk to you like we know each other for years and I feel that I can trust you…Can I?’
Tina asked the same question as Bette did the day before. Bette felt that Tina started to open up and felt again butterflies in her stomach. It was an amazing feeling. Something she never felt before. She loved before but now she could feel how she was falling more in love with every passing moment. Tina didn’t say much and asked many questions but Bette felt so connected. She looked Tina in the eyes and said softly:
‘Yes you can trust me.’
They looked each other in the eyes for minutes until the sound of a phone took them back to reality. Bette started to get up
‘Excuse me. I will take that and be back in a minute.’
She walked over to the phone and took it.
‘Hello?…..Oh hey sweetie. How are you?…That is good to hear. I am good too….Of course I remember our date next weekend baby……Yeah sure I will bring everything and we will have a great time….. Don’t forget to pack a dress because I booked a room in a very nice hotel and I want to go to dinner with you…..You know that you look always beautiful to me sweetie….Okay I have to go now. I will pick you up on Friday… Have great week….I love you too. Okay bye.’
As Bette turned around she saw Tina walking with her jacket in hand to the door.
‘Hey where are you going?’
‘I think that phone call was obvious. And you didn’t even try to hide it. I thought you were different but….huh you know what? Forget it!’
She turned around and made her way to the door.

Way to go on the back Jay that’s huge, good work. Very important to stick to it. You must have been going someplace with that phone call, who was it on the phone? I’m sure it was an innocent call but Tina is not so sure. Not so sure I like the idea of Tina being invited on the weekend though because it sounds like Bette needs to be catching up with whoever it was but I do believe Bette has some splainin to do. Bummer, they were having such a good evening and now the phone call. Is this phone call from a child or a relative? I sure hope so. Glad that your injury is getting better. Keep up the good work.
I bet she was talking to Kit, maybe she will ask Tina to come along too.I would like to see Bette and Tina deal with Tina’s insecurities and making her a better person & Bette help her fine a better job. Maybe Bette get hurt and Tina will realize how important Bette is to her and how much she has help her. PPS. can’t wait for the explanation to the phone call. YOU ROCK

Firstly, hope physiotherapy would save you the surgery… I mean, Ouch, I can’t imagine. Secondly, how could you? Heh~ You know what I think? Time for an explanation followed by a passionate kiss… hmm~
Hey, I was thinking, which is usually not a good thing, but maybe Bette has a daughter that she has kept secret from the out side world to keep her safe???????
I think she was either talking to Kit or a daughter no one knows about because of her status. She needs to catch Tina before she walks out the door! PPS

Hi there, dear sweet Jay! It is SO good to see you here, again! Glad to hear you are taking the necessary steps to avoid surgery. We hope that the doc gives you positive news and that you may continue to have the proper rehab of your back. As for the story, we believe there are still loopholes that need to be filled. Like, why did Tina become a thief, why did she come to live in LA, who she was involved with? etc. There are many alternatives there. As for Bette, we still have a lot to know about her. How was her life before meeting Tina, did she raise a daughter on one of her previous relationships or did she give birth to one, how the other members of her extended family fit in her life? etc. See? There are lots of possibilities. Just pick one and go from there. You are extremely talented, Jay. We know you can keep with this charming and different story. Could it be Dana on the phone? I think Bette wouldn’t call Kit or Alice sweety. BTW Tina has to relax ,why can she think Bette would make a phone call like this in front of her if it were not innocent?
Okay, this is what I think…I think that Bette was on the phone with a neice or nephew (because she was adopted). But Bette better run fast and hope she can catch Tina and explain herself. Jay you are a blessing, you mena the world to ME. Take care my friend.
