Thief of my heart – chapter 17

    ‘Come in’

    ‘Hey Shane…what do you think?’

‘Hm…Bette Porter is one lucky woman! You look beautiful Tina’

    ‘You think?’

‘Definitly! So what are your plans for tonight?’

‘I told you…she invited me to her place.’

‘I know…thats why I ask what you are planning for tonight.’

‘I am not sure but I guess we are having dinner.’

‘Sometimes you are so sweet and innocent Tina. I was wondering if you will sleep in your own bed or if I see you sometime tomorrow morning!?’

‘Oh…uh…I think I will sleep in my own bed. This is our first date…I’m not that kind of girl…uh…’

‘Hey it’s fine. Just asking…I mean Bette is famous for her charm and one night encounters. Not for her dating skills.’

‘You know…I think we just wait and see! I have to go. Bye Shane’

‘Have fun and tell Bette I said hi’

    ‘I will.’

Tina left the apartment and took a cab to Bette’s. As she stood in front of the large building she felt again the butterflies in her stomach. Maybe Shane was right. She was nervous. But also excited. She was on her way to a date with a beautiful, smart and interesting woman.
She opened the door and went to the elevator. After she stepped in and the doors closed she looked at the mirror walls and checked herself again.

‘Not bad Kennard, not bad at all’

She smirked at herself and turned to leave the elevator when she heard the ‘bing’. She stepped out and went to Bettes door. A few heavy breaths and a calming sigh later she knocked and waited.

    ————————————————————————————————————-

    Bette’s apartment

Bette stood in the kitchen for nearly two hours to put together a wonderful meal. As she looked up at the clock she felt butterflies in her stomach.

‘Only thirty minutes left. Everything is ready…except myself. I have to go and change.’

She retrieved the apron from around her waist and walked to the bedroom.

‘Shit…what do I wear…I have to look cool…but not too cool. Oh christ…I have nothing to wear.’

She stood at the entrance to her walk in closet packed with clothes. From jeans and shirts to expensive designer dresses and buisness suits. The possibilitys were endless but Bette felt lost. Spontanously she called Alice.

    ‘Hey Al’

    ‘Hey what’s up Porter?’

‘I don’t know what to wear!’

‘Are you serious? You have a closet that is as huge as my whole bedroom and you don’t know what to wear.’

    ‘Uh…yes!?’

‘Great….good for you that you have me as your best friend, right?’

‘Of course Al…so could you stop flattering yourself and tell me what I should wear? Because I have only a few minutes left.’

    ‘Ok ok…gee…what are you doing?’

‘We have dinner here at my place’

‘Then I would suggest something casual. I mean she is not a rich high society chick. She is a normal person. So keep it simple and use your charme.’

‘What do you think about the grey suit pants and the white Stella McCartney blouse?’

‘Sexy but casual….good one Porter…seems like I am rubbing off on you!’

‘God I hope not! But thanks Alice. I have to go now. Bye’

Bette hung up before Alice was able to say anything. She changed in the chosen clothes and went back in the kitchen to check one last time that everything was perfect. Then she went to the living room and lit all the candles so the room felt warm and comfortable. A very romantic setting and Bette felt nervous since she wasn’t sure if Tina was a romantic person.

As she lit the last candle she heard a knock at the door….

    2. Hi, dear sweet Jay! Awww sweetie, please keep taking care of your back, would you? You have us worried, here. Hope the exercise will work. As for the story, we loved the anticipation on both sides, for the dinner date. Ah, the typical phrase that all of us women use: “I’ve got nothing to wear”. Hahaha Yep. SO typical. B&T are so sweet, that they both want to make this time special for each other. Thanks for this update, dear friend. PPS Hugs & kisses on both your cheeks.- Lucero & Marsha (Proud Salsa Aunties to the ever loving JC and Eunichick and Tias Adoradas to Patpez)

    3. I trust in you, you will come up with a wonderful date-chapter. I can’t wait to see it, so please post soon. Happy Easter, enjoy the wonderful weather.
