The Trouble With Love Chapter Seventeen

Even though Tina had spent the day at work all she had really done was think about her dinner with Bette, and more specifically holding her hand on the way back to the hotel. Even though she didn’t regret her actions, it felt to good to do that, she wondered how difficult it was now going to make this evening’s topic of conversation. The last thing she wanted to was let Bette think that this was going to be easy on either of them.

She had called Bette earlier in the day and arranged to meet her in the hotel bar. Tina assumed that it would be quiet on a Tuesday night and this would give them a chance to talk uninterrupted. In the back of her mind she knew that doing this in a public place wasn’t necessarily the best idea but she still wasn’t quite prepared to let Bette spend time in her hotel room. If sparks started to fly then she knew that she had a small chance of controlling the situation away from that confined space.

Once she arrived back at the hotel she went to her room to shower and change. As with the night before, as she turned the corner to enter the bar and saw Bette for the first time that day she felt a small hitch in her breathing. Bette looked up and smiled that smile of hers and Tina couldn’t help but smile back and wonder how they ever got themselves in this situation in the first place.

As she sat down she saw that Bette had already ordered her a glass of wine. Tina slightly shook her head at that as she knew that Bette was canny enough to realise that the wine would help on two counts, one to calm her nerves and secondly Tina would be more likely to really say what was on her mind once the alcohol had taken affect.

“Hey, how was your day? What did you do?” Tina asked as she sat down opposite Bette.

“It was good. I slept in, but I feel like I’m almost on the right time now, and then I went to the National Portrait Gallery, which was amazing.”

“Has Franklin called at all, to check up on you?”

    1. so thats 2 nights gone… how long is bette staying there… and i also love kate… she’s good for tina… and i love that they are talking… ok i’m all caught on your story..so please continue

    2. ‘Difficult, but not impossible’ is a perfect description of the challenge of getting a “broken” relationship (with a foundation of love) back on track. It is so not necessary for them to go from one “hell” to another to find what they never truly lost. Thank you for the progression… thank you for the simplicity of affection…and most importantly, thank you for sharing.

    3. Thank you for bringing them together to see each other and talk. Each of them needs to tell the other that they never stopped loving the other and that will settle a lot with that statement. Let them continue talking positively and moving forward. Thanks for the post.

    4. They really do need to continue talking. Most likely when Tina has had more rest. She avoided Bette earlier, now she needs to simply rest and then ask the hard questions. Thanks for the update, please continue.
