    Bette goes over some class assignments, and she gets a call from Tina. A long conversation gives way to another step forward.

    “It was a tricycle!” Tina laughed back before taking a bite into the cookie. She was glowing with all of Bette’s attention, and all of the love she gave in return. Their time together was beyond her wildest dreams, and she found herself so attached to Bette in such a short time that she forgot all the rules and all the expectations. And suddenly, she was seeing the world in a different light.

    “But still. That poor boy,” Bette chuckled, watching Tina pick the cookie apart with gentle fingers. “… I hope you would never run me over.”

    “I hope you never give me a reason to,” Tina teased, suddenly realizing how closely Bette was watching her fingers. And all of the sudden, it became a little hard to swallow. The desire was so pure that it frightened her, and so sharp.

    “There’s that confidence again,” Bette smiled, rubbing under her chin and then down her arm. She was becoming chilled with the sensations of lust that took her over. The air felt a little cooler – or was it hotter? “So …”

    “I hope I haven’t stayed too late,” Tina said quietly, wondering what time it might be. She figured maybe nine or ten at night, but she couldn’t be sure. Her time with Bette always seemed to fly past them both.

    “Oh no no,” Bette insisted, finally looking to the large watch on her slender wrist to read the time. Her eyes bugged out and she looked at it a little closer. “That can’t be right …”

    “What is it?”

    “Let me check in the kitchen,” Bette smiled, getting up to walk by and check the time on her clock above the fridge. She scratched her head when she saw it, feeling Tina’s eyes on her and choosing to ignore it for the time being. “It’s … a little late … I feel guilty for keeping you.”

    “It can’t be that late,” Tina chuckled as Bette came back to the couch. “Let me see. What time is it?”

    Bette leaned back when she saw Tina move in toward her, reaching for the watch on her wrist. “What are you doing?” she chuckled, drawing back even further at Tina’s smile.

    “I’m looking for the time,” Tina insisted, reaching again to no avail. “Stop moving. Here, just … what are you doing? No, give that to me – ahh!”
