The Other Side of the Game Part 3
Candace leans back onto her side: Ah, you see. That is the biggest perk about being your own boss. You get to set your own hours.
Mikela: Yes, I know this, but you are a classic-case workaholic. Which is why Im surprise you are not already up and halfway through the door. Dont you have some site you need to be at this morning?
Candace: No. Not really. I dont have anything scheduled for today.
Mikela: (Acting mockingly shock) what?! You have nothing scheduled? Oh, god let me turn on the news! (She reaches for the remote, pretending to turn on the television.)
Candace: What for?
Mikela: Surely someone would be reporting on something as a big as ***** freezing over. (Candace gives her a perplex look) Baby, you havent taken a day off in months. So you can imagine my shock.
Candace: (with a hint of annoyance in her voice) it hasnt been that long.
Mikela: Ha. Candace, since I have known you I cant count on my two hands the number of days you have taken a vacation and from Ive heard you were much worse before we started dating. You were driving your crew and Danielle up the wall with double booking contracts.
Candace: Thats an exaggeration.
Mikela: Baby, did you or did you not try to make your crew work on the Casther mansion during that earthquake?
Candace: I dont think you can classify a few tremors as an earthquake.
Mikela: Well I guess the experts didnt know what they were talking about because they did classify it as an earthquake.
Candace: So what. Its not like anyone got hurt and if you are going to use something like a small earthquake as an excuse not to work then you better not live here in California.
Mikela: (in an exasperated tone) Candace!! Later on that day they declared the site as being too unstable to work in!!
Candace: (sheepishly) Yeah Well, ok, maybe you have a point there.
Mikela: All Im saying is that you are very dedicated to your work and I love that about you, but sometimes you just got to step back and take a little time off for yourself.
Candace: I know. Hey I didnt work this weekend.
