    Ivan and Dax return to the stage at The Planet; Chandra arrives at The Planet; Announcements are made at Bette & Tina’s; Friendships are put to the test later that night at Jenny’s

    The evening passes and the get-together has become a sleepover for Alice and Lara.  Shane and Carmen sleep in their bedroom.  Jenny and Marina sleep in Jenny’s bedroom.  Helena and Tonya sleep out in Helena’s shack.  Max is conked out on on the couch, while Alice is asleep on the loveseat across the from the couch and beside the TV.  Lara had been resting with Alice, but now finds herself in the kitchen, seated at the table.  She takes a sip of water from a glass and wonders life to herself.  The concern grows.  She’s not the only one who can’t sleep.  Carmen walks in and sees Lara alone at the table.  Carmen motions with her head towards the door and Lara nods.  They both walk outside and take a seat on the steps.

    Carmen: Can’t sleep, either?

    Lara: Not really.

    Carmen: What’s up?

    Lara: Nothing.

    Carmen: Lara…something’s on your mind.  It has been all night.

    Lara looks at Carmen.

    Lara: Are you sure you’re ready for this?

    Carmen: Ready for what?

    Lara: …

    Carmen: Marrying Shane?  Lara…I’ve been ready.

    Lara: Look…I think it’s great that the two of you are working things out.  Me and Alice are as happy as we can be, but….

    Carmen: But what?

    Lara: Don’t you think this is a little too soon?

    Carmen: No, why?

    Lara: Carmen….didn’t Shane just hit you not too long ago?  And now you’re getting married?

    Carmen goes on the defensive which soon becomes offensive.  Her words are biting.

    Carmen: Yeah…didn’t Dana just die not too long ago and now YOU’RE getting married?

    Lara looks away from Carmen.  An anger comes over her for a second, which quickly becomes hurt and grief.  Lara closes her eyes and stands, about to turn to the door.  As she does, Carmen realizes her verbal low blow and is overcome with her own guilt.  Carmen quickly stands.

    Carmen: I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry….

    Carmen reaches for Lara’s arms.  Lara freezes.

    Carmen: That was uncalled for.

    Lara: Then why…why did you say that…?

    Carmen: I don’t know…I….I guess I’m just as concerned about you and Al as you are of me and Shane…I’m sorry.

    Lara reaches up and grabs Carmen’s hands, pulling them down from arms.  They do not let go of one another’s hands.

    4. and I appreciate always a lot how you dare to follow lifes of minor character like Dax or Gabby and making them as interesting as the major ones (if not even more :P )
