    Bette and Tina talk

    “I always adored how you stood up to me — we lost that “

    “Can you and I be friends ? “

    Bette touched her stomach again as Jnr kicked again – what she wanted to do was to take Tina’s hand and let her experience her son’s Flashdance style bopping.

     

    Their eyes met – Tina knew what Bette wanted to do and she knew that Bette had obvious reservations.

     

    “Can I ? “


    “Are you sure ? “

    “No – but I would like to anyway “

    Bette squeezed Tina’s hand and waited a few seconds until Kicking Boy started again — she knew that this was the one time when she did not want him to behave. Bette took Tina’s hand and placed it on her stomach just as more kicking began.

    Tina laughed as she felt Bette’s stomach moved – she looked into Bette’s eyes and they shared a moment that they both knew was special.

    “My God Bette — is he having some of his friends around for a party “

    “It feels like that sometimes “

     

    “Is he healthy ? “


    “Very – excellent in every way “


    “And you ? “


    “I will be so glad when nine months is over “

     

    “Can I ask you a personal question ? “

    “”Of course “


    “Do you have a partner ? “

     

    Bette had expected the question – she knew the answer she was going to give . She had nothing to lose anymore.


    “No one can ever replace you Tina – no one ever could “

     

    “Oh Bette — no one will ever replace you either “

    Tina put her hand onto Bette’s face – a gesture full of tenderness towards her former wife. They stared into each others eyes — looking seeing the sights and memories and feelings they found in them.

    Henry slipped through the throng of lesbians crammed into the Planet — he had licked his wounds and was confident that Tina was now ready to accept his grovelling and allow him back into her good books. He could not find her so he made his way further and further back through the café. Shane had her back to him as did Alice – he was happy to avoid them – they were a bad influence on Tina — his Tina.

    He stood near the back of the café looking around and was frustrated that he could not see her. Just as he was about to go and get a drink he glanced sideways into the seemingly empty part of the building.

    To see his partner staring lovingly into the eyes of her former wife.

    20. I am with AmandaMG, Tina needs to lean in a gently kiss Bette. With that kiss becoming longer and deeper showing not only all around them that they are in love, but to let Henry know that it is over between him and Tina. No words need to be spoken just actions. Yippee, this is getting good.

    37. Ally, AGain thank you for reposting chapter 4. To have it and the following one was a joy to behold and indugle in. I love the gentleness of this story. The path back to where you belong is often fraught with danger and the inteferences of others even if they are often well-intentioned. It looks like Bette and Tina are ready to reaquaint themselves with each other but Henry may have a thing to say ans do about it but I know that Alice, Kit and Shane will be there to nourish and nuture the budding romance and reunion of two lost souls. Wonderful, wonderful writing. Thank you for all of your marvelous melodrama. Your Loyal Fan.

    39. EXCELLENT and so beautifully done. Now it is time for Alice and her compadraes to spring into action–Mission (and you WILL accept it) to get B&T together in a weeks time by having them spend the maxium amount of time together. I am soooo glad that they both risked it all and really opened up to each other. Alice talk to Tina was PRICELESS. Henry it is all over with the exception of doing the dirty dishes, have some pride about yourself and accept it. Look for someone else to be your “Baby’s mama” LOL.
