Chapter 282
Narration of First Lady Tina Kennard Porter
“You tired Helena ?” I ask Helena as we are stepping out of the lift in our hotel. Its 11;30pm and we have been to a event in London in my honour held by the Save the Children Fund because of the work I have initiated in Afghanistan among school children trying to promote tolerance. It’s a long road but I couldn’t leave that country out of my humanitarian work now that I am First Lady and in a position to make a difference
“No – no I am not “
“You want to sit and drink coffee and talk ?” I ask
“Yeah – that would be fun – I do need to get out of this dress first – it’s a little tight “
“Not surprised as you ate three helpings of that dessert “
“Well it was gorgeous “
“You mean the chef was gorgeous “
“I think meeting Nigella was one of the highlights of my year “
“Yes – there was something about her “
“Her chest “ I say and we both laugh
“I didn’t notice “
“If you had been any closer to her cleavage we would have needed a mountain rescue dog to go in and bring you out “
“Hey – she’s my favourite TV chef and there she was with her cleavage “
“Go get changed and meet me in my room – you hungry ?”
“Well – I shouldn’t “
“What do you want ?”
“Some chocolate – I had forgotten how much I love British chocolate “
“I will see what I can do – see you in a while “
I reach my suite and go inside and kick off my high heels and jump onto my bed and sigh – that’s better. Its going to take me a few weeks back home to assimilate everything that has happened on this trip. Its been wonderful and I have to confess that I am loving my own share of the spotlight with Bette back in Washington looking after the country and our daughter. Its given me a taste for power – well more of a taste for power. While I love being a wife and a mother I also know that I want to run for office – governor maybe. I know that I am different in so many ways to Bette and the great advantage that I will have is that I will have this experience behind me. Like Hillary with Bill I have seen what goes on behind closed doors and I know what deals need to be done and what compromises have to be struck. But for now I am in London and what I need is top get out of this dress and into something comfortable like jeans and a tee-shirt.

Tina was right, Alana just doesn’t want the responsibility and Helena doesn’t see it, yet. Be sure to use hot pads and oven mitts while cooking, we wouldn’t want you to burn your fingertips.lol Thanks for posting.
