Something so right

Chapter 124

“So are you looking forward to going back to LA tomorrow ?” Bette was outside the house talking to Finn who had been wandering around outside for an hour or so doing little jobs and taking in the late afternoon breeze. Tina was talking to her mother about the possibility of them buying Niall’s share of the farm and she wanted to do it alone. Bette didn’t have a problem with that – she respected Tina’s relationship with her mother and was glad that one of the positives to come from Niall’s immature behaviour was that mother and daughter were getting on better than they had in years. So after Bette and Tina had discussed it at length, Tina was going to sound her mother out and Bette had happily excused herself from the house so they could talk in private. Willow was missing – presumably out and Finn was wandering around the farm doing little jobs that usually got neglected until they became big problems

“You are tall enough to out grow the planet “ Bette commented

“Funny- does it not feel weird to Tina ?”

“Yes – yes it does – I was talking to your mom the other day and she said it was a bit much for her to take in to have all of us here “

Finn took a second plank of wood and started nailing it in place. He finished one side and looked at Bette for a few seconds

“I didn’t expect to see her as positive as she is “

“Maybe it’s a relief “ Bette said

“Maybe – maybe we have all been making a fuss of it when we didn’t have to “

“I would say that she has enjoyed having all of us here but its just heightened the tensions with Willow. Your mum is a tough woman – actually “

Bette looked around to make sure there was no other Kennard nearby

“Yes ?”

“Has your mom ever been to LA ?”

“No – why ?” he sounded suspicious

“Don’t worry  – I am not going to get her to move in with you and Shane “
