“Bette…..Bette…..where are you”

“I’m up here” came the distant response.

Tina followed Bette’s voice until she reached the bottom of the attic steps.

“What the hell are you doing up there”

“Looking for this” Bette holds up an old leather bound book and blows off some of the cobwebs.

“Wow we haven’t looked at that for a while”

“I know I thought we could show it to Shane & Alice since we have them all weekend”

“Are you sure that’s such a good idea I remember doing that very thing when Chris &  Lizzie where young and I also remember you couldn’t stop crying for a week”

“Oh you do exaggerate it was no more that 5 days”

“Well come down they’ll be here soon and be careful I’m not looking after you while you re-cooperate from a hip replacement if you fall” Tina jokes.

“Remind me why I have put up with you all these years” Bette turns and reverses down the attic steps.

“Because you love me Mrs Porter Kinnard and always have”

Bette reaches the bottom of the steps puts the book down and takes Tina into her arms

“That I do Mrs Porter Kinnard and always will”

Tina pulls Bette in and kisses her softly at first but their desire for each other has never waned over the years and the kiss soon grows in fervor.

“Mmmmm….have we got time before they arrive”

Bette chuckles.

“I wish…. but I think Chris and Lizzie still carry the emotional scars of catching us in an uncompromising position”

“Ok…ok…ok…I guess a kiss will have to do for now”  Tina leans back in just as they hear the front door opening.
“Nana T….Nana B….where are you” Alice is shouting as she is running through the house.

“Steady on sweetheart you’ll fall and hurt yourself if you don’t slow down”

“Nana B”  Alice jumps into Bette’s arms and places a million kisses on Bette’s cheeks.

Bette laughs at her granddaughter’s exuberance.

“You get more like your Nana T everyday….”Bette puts her little firecracker back down on the floor.  “Where’s your Dad and your brother”

“Oh them slowcoaches they’re coming”  Alice spots Tina.  “Nana T”

Tina picks up Alice and swings her around while placing a million kisses on the little girls cheeks.
