Alice:   Ok Tina I want you to stay calm first, please.  I mean you do have a head injury too so take it easy.

Tina:  Oh, my head is fine don’t worry about me; it’s her I am worried about.  So can you tell me more?

All I am able to say is that I have managed to stabilize her pulse and she is breathing ok for now.  So her vital signs are good but not great.  I have given her something for the pain too, so she is not suffering.

Tina knew that this Al wasn’t telling her everything and she started to boil inside.  She squeezed Bette’s hand and looked straight at Alice’s eyes.

Tina:  Is she going to make it?  Is she?  Yes or No?????

Alice:   Sorry I can’t tell you that……I am …….. Look we are nearly there…… it’s no use getting angry it doesn’t help the situation so please you have to wait.

Tina:  Damnit why can’t you tell me more?????

Alice:   Sorry I can’t…..and I am afraid they will not be able to tell you anything in there too, unless they get this lady’s approval or if you are a family member.  It’s the patient’s confidentiality policy….. So I suggest you tell them that you are related or you will be left out in the cold.

Tina sat back looking deflated and still boiling inside.  She has to know.   She wants to know everything about this woman and she better come up with something fast.  But what?  What believable story is she going to tell them???  Who could she be?  Who could she be?????  Tina was drowning in her thought when she heard Al calling.

Alice:   Are we there yet??  Listen Tina I think I will be able to help you but you have to stay calm and collective.

Couple of minutes Al.

The other medic shouted back.  He was driving as fast as the road and the motorists allowed him.

Alice:   Thank you James.

Alice shouted back and looked at Tina.

Alice:  Look Tina.  

Alice hesitated again.  But Tina wasn’t going to let her wiggle out of this one.  She is going to be anything and anyone in order for her to stay close and to be informed of everything.
