Put it up to your ear…what do you hear? Chapter 11

Two weeks had crawled by, and still there was no communication between the two women who had fallen victim to the assumptions and misunderstandings that are so often the result of using a middleman.

Tina had somehow managed to make it through one arduous day after another, but each morning when she woke, she could feel that a little bit more of her spirit had disappeared during the night. Today had been the worst of all, because it had been Sunday…a day of rest…which of course was the last thing Tina wanted. Now more than ever, she needed to be at work. Needed to be able to bury herself in something other than her broken heart. The day had been torturous as she instead concentrated on mundane cleaning tasks throughout every corner of her condo.

‘God, I can’t take this anymore,’ she whispered to herself. Looking at the clock, she hesitated for a moment wondering if it was too late to call, but then knowing it didn’t matter, she was calling anyway. Enough was enough…she had to do something. Gingerly, she picked up her cell phone and scrolled through the saved numbers.

‘Here goes nothing,’ she whispered again to herself as she heard the phone ringing on the other end of the line.

    "Hello."

    "Hi…uh…it’s Tina."

    "Tina?"

    "Yeah."

    "Wow…well, this is a surprise."

"Is it too late to call?"

"No, it’s fine. How are you? Is something wrong?"

"I needed to talk about something….and, well I saw you on TV today, and thought that maybe you might be the right person to help me."

    "You watched the game?"

Tina smiled. "Of course I did. I watch all your games, Dave."

    "Tina…I…"

"No, don’t say anything. Even though I was horrible to you and broke your heart, I am still your biggest fan."

Tine could hear the man on the other end of the phone relax a little. "Thanks Tina."

There was silence for a moment.

"So, what’s up? I mean, it’s been so long, why the phone call now?"

Tina sighed, closing her eyes. "Questions, closure, understanding…you name it."

A soft chuckle floated through the line. "So, this isn’t a call to tell me how great I was today on the football field?"

Tina couldn’t help but laugh, easily remembering just how much she had loved this man at one point in her life. "Well, that too," she teased back.

    6. Amazing!!! Surely this exchange is gonna be the start of B&T. Or better say the fire ignition, cause it seems to me that B&T started the day Tiny Tina found that shell… Bette is gonna be so stunned! … getting her shell back after all these years! And from her T! Can’t wait to read that… Please, please no drama around the exchange, we had enough of that! Please post soon, I simply adore that story! Thanks

    7. Ok I know this comment is late, but I finally sat down and caught up. This chapter was great. It’s funny how some of us go through life believing in something other than ourselves. True there’s nothing wrong in having, lets say a lucky charm, but when do we let go of that and start believing that we made those good things happen? Tina’s seashell reminds me of a security blanket. At some point in our life’s we have to take responsibility for our actions and right now that’s what Tina is about to do. Hopefully. So go get your woman Tina. Please Post Soon.
