    Bette held up her hand to stop James. He did so immediately, he had worked for Bette long enough to know that when she wanted you to stop talking it was best to do so. He realised that he had bombarded her with information since she had come in but he was so excited that she might finally get the recognition she deserved after all her hard work and wanted her to know that he was more than able to help her.

     

    He waited for her to speak and let him know what tasks she wanted him to complete. Surely returning Peggy Peabody’s call would be top of her priority list as it was she who had been so instrumental in Bette’s success. ‘James, give me ten minutes to get my bearings then ask Candace Jewell to come in and see me.’

     

    James was surprised at Bette’s request but understood that Bette’s priority was the museum and not hearing her own praises. ‘Sure thing boss.’ He smiled back admiring her even more. ‘Ten minutes and then I’ll send her in. Do you want me to get you anything else? Coffee?’ Bette shook her head as she slid her office door open. ‘Just give me ten minutes.’

     

    Kit had called Tina and asked her to meet her on Sunday evening after she left Bette’s. If her sister wasn’t going to make sure her wife was okay then she would just do it herself. Thankfully Tina had agreed to the meeting, on the sole condition that no one else – including Bette, knew about it.

     

    Tina had not wanted to place Kit in the position of having to tell Bette that she had taken it upon herself to go and see Tina because she hadn’t. She didn’t want to pressurise her into seeing her because everyone else had, she wanted to give her time. Kit understood her reasoning but thought to herself with all this time the two of them were giving each other if time didn’t hurry itself up she would have to hurry it up herself.

     

    Kit had asked Marina if they could borrow her office to give them more privacy and since she had found little use for it as of late she gladly allowed them to. They were sat on opposite sides of the desk, their drinks in front of them, both unsure of how to begin.

    4. excellent update! you were sneaky there in the beginning making me think tina and bette were meeting. then you had tina waiting for her at the house. oh the suspense….i hope all their questions are answered. good luck with your papers.

    7. Just caught up on this chapter and the last. Both were excellent chapters! You have a captivating story here. After reading the last chapter, I thought that the person Bette saw was Candace but was actually hopint that it would be Tina. At the beginning of this chapter, you had me thinking that it was Tina only to turn around and have Tina waiting for Bette at home at the end! Looking forward to the next chapter.
