    Purest of Pain (Chpt. 5)

Tina was sat on the end of the sofa very much more awake than Alice was. Alice rubbed her eyes trying to focus more, ‘Tina, what are you doing up so early?’ She made her way over to the sofa trying not to bump into anything else.

    ‘Alice are you okay?’

Alice scratched her head and looked around her trying to remember why it was she was awake, ‘I was having a weird dream. I dunno. I think I was a detective or something. I was all CSI-y. And D -’ She stopped herself before she said Dana’s name, she didn’t want to have to explain why Dana was in her dream. ‘Never mind. I think I must’ve had too much cheese before dinner or something.’

She stretched her arms up above her head and  noticed one of the blankets still neatly folded on the opposite end of the sofa to Tina. Alice looked at her through squinted eyes, she was definitely dressed for bed, ‘Have you even slept?’

Tina placed the cup down on the coffee table in front of her and shook her head. Alice dragged herself over to where Tina was sat and plopped herself on the sofa next to her friend, ‘T, you need to get some rest. You hardly slept at all last night. You’re gonna wear yourself out.’ Alice said, more than a little concerned. Tina nodded.

Alice looked at the un-drunk milk on the table and then back at Tina, ‘Do you want me to make you another one?’ Tina shook her head. ‘Tea?’ Again she shook her head. ‘Coffee?’ Another shake of the head. Alice sighed, ‘Look T, I know the whole tears thing is kinda exhausting but I’m gonna need a little bit more than the nods and shakes okay?’ Another nod of her head. This time though followed by the smallest of smiles, ‘I mean yes.’

Alice took the blanket and spread it over Tina and herself as she snuggled herself on the sofa. She turned her body so that it was facing Tina and she could rest the side of her head on the back of the sofa. She looked at Tina, what was she doing there sleeping, or not, on her couch? She belonged at home, with Bette, in their home. There was no doubt between them that Tina was more than welcome there but both hoped it was only a temporary situation. Despite the promise to herself that she would allow Tina to talk about what had happened when she felt ready looking at Tina silently sitting there obviously full of a million thoughts Alice felt herself speak, ‘Tina, what happened? You and Bette -’

    1. the bigest mistake Bette did of course other then cheat on Tina..was not try talk to Tina after the affair..i hope here she go after Tina soon..cant wait for more thanks :o)

    2. excellent update. i liked the whole mr. piddles investigation dream. it was a much needed comic relief. bette better get her act together and go see tina. can’t wait for next chapter and the emotional rollercoaster that will take us finally to the beginning of S2.

    3. This was indeed a lighter chapter, especially with Alice’s dream. Very funny, actually. I can’t wait to see how you will bring about the meeting of Tina and Bette.

    4. I love how you’ve tackled that difficult scene in the finale, I cant wait till Tina talks about it and see what her perspective is on it. Watching both characters discuss the break up so sadly with their close counterparts is so heart tugging and eye watering, its excellent writing. Thank you.
