    They commenced to share a quiet dinner full of good food and good company. It was one of those dinners where nothing needed to be said in order to communicate what they wanted to say to one another. They knew each other so well that the simple looks, the simple smiles and the simple touches all said enough. After dinner Bette cleared the dishes and when she came back out Tina noticed that she had changed the music and what had been upbeat soft jazz music was now slow soulful ballads from the forties and fifties. Bette walked out to where Tina stood and extended her hand asking Tina to dance. Tina just smiled, still completely in awe of Bettes behavior tonight, and shyly gave Bette her hand and stood up. Bette took Tinas hand and pulled her close as the two lovers shared an intimate smile before Bette leaned in and placed a small kiss on Tinas lips. Small kiss indeed, but loving enough to make Tinas head spin.

    I love this woman, thought Tina as she stared into Bettes eyes and saw love and adoration reflected back. Tina smiled shyly once again and Bette began humming along to the song that was flowing into the night. Tina didnt recognize the song, but she loved the words and she took a moment to realize how much planning Bette had put into tonight. Sure it came easy for Bette, doing the big presentations and what not, but Tina always knew that whenever Bette did something like this for her that it came from the bottom of her heart. As she watched Bette watch her and pour her heart out to her through the music and the gentle movements of their dance Tina couldnt help but think about how things always seemed so unbalanced.

    They had gone from stable to rocky to apparently in love once again and Tina knew that the things she had been thinking about she needed to bring up to Bette. Tina really didnt want to ruin tonight but she knew that no matter when it happened that Bette would feel like Tina wasnt being appreciative of her attempt to rekindle the old flame they still shared. Tina knew that Bette wouldnt take anything less than an appreciative I love you, the right way, not at this moment at least. Tina watched Bette hum softly and she could feel Bette placing soft kisses up and down her neck as the two women swayed slowly to the soulful rhythm of the music, like two halves of a heartbeat falling into place. Tina loved these moments. The simple times when her and Bette didnt need anything else, when they didnt need the outside world, when they didnt even need the lovely things they had in their homes. They just needed each other and in that moment, that was all theyd ever need.

      There’s a time to talk and a time to shut up! Tina, you got your times mixed up.
      Thanks for another chapter in this long-running story. They started out so well but it seems like things went downhill after they moved in together. Wait- Bette always had a monstrous temper – beyond bearing. Maybe moving in together wasn’t such a good idea. I still remember their reunion at the hotel in NYC – that was one choice chapter. Maybe they can recapture that thrill!

    7. You were one of the first authors I read on this site and you hooked me immediately. Every chapter from you is a joy and this was no exception. I have to agree with Techgal on this, Tina should have let the night go as Bette planned. But of course now you can have them making up.
