    Chapter 7

    “No Bette that was really really bad” Seizing the opportunity to turn those tables back in her favour Tina probed “So Porter you think I’m a wonder huh”

    Without a seconds hesitation and taking on a more serious tone “Yes I do…..why didn’t you wake me you let me sleep for over 4 hours” Bette asked not entirely the reason behind why the woman who was currently finding her hands rather enthralling constantly astounded her. She didn’t add that for the last 2 mornings her reflection didn’t reveal an unabridged selfish asshole, the mirror image still held more than a trace of her contrition but it was no where near as profound as it was prior to Tina’s reaction to what she considered a shameful disclosure. Tina hadn’t balked….Tina hadn’t run…..Tina had held on tight with a promise never to let go….

    Tina recalled the 4 hours that to her seemed more like 4 minutes, the time that she was able resistance free to hold her sleeping wonder, the time that she had watched in awe when gradually her features had changed from anguished to contented, the lone tear that fell then as she realised she would never again see anything as amazing as beautiful as the enigma that lay in her arms made a re-appearance as she replied “I was busy”

    “Doing what”

    “Falling”

    Bette applied pressure to the brake as she approached the stop sign, she turned just in time to catch the single tear with her forefinger as it hung precariously on Tina’s chin, expectant eyes met with her own and locked as she tenderly kissed the tear off her finger. Neither moved…neither blinked…..the connection unwavering…..

    The beeping of the car behind startled them both, extinguishing the moment where nothing else existed.

    “ Fuckwit” Bette muttered more to herself than the asshole in the car behind her.

    The most part of their 45 minute journey was filled with guesses from Tina as passed each landmark on their destination and Bette’s constant replies of “No”

    “You know Tina you really need to learn a little patience”

    “That I do” Tina agreed “That I do” she repeated under her breath as she laid her head on the backrest turned and spent the remainder of their time in the car silently staring out the window, if her heart and her head would just stop their constant battling she would have enjoyed the spectacular views as they drove up and along the Topanga canyon Blvd.

    6. Oh yeah…I like the end to this chapter! So…all good things come to an end and apparently all great things come to an end sooner. I knew it had to happen, but I kept hoping not yet. Well it’s been a helluva ride Skimmy, so I’m expecting one helluvan ending! PPS!

    7. I love it. Bette’s biggest fear was that she would be found to be unlovable if Tina knew what she had done. As soon as she discovered that Tina still loved her it freed her. These two have got to stay together! Thanks for the update.
