    Bette

I walked into the staff cafeteria, desperate for my caffeine fix; it looked as if I would be working twelve hours or more today.

“The usual,” I said to Mitch; he was our regular cafeteria boy.

As I took a sip of my coffee, I looked around for a table and spotted my colleague and friend, Lara Perkins. She was the Executive Chef at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza. She seemed engrossed in something she was reading. I walked towards her, “May I?” I asked as she looked up at me with a grin.

“Do you really need to ask?” she replied jokingly as I took the seat across from her, “Much needed fix, huh?” she added, gesturing to my cup.

I nodded, “Sometimes I feel as if my body is becoming immune to caffeine, what you reading there?” I asked.

“Ah,” she replied, “It’s just the corporate newsletter, nothing interesting,” she closed the newsletter to reveal a photograph of one of the many Hyatt hotels on the cover. Setting it back down on the table, she flipped it back open to the page she was reading, “I was just checking out the woman they chose to profile this month.”

“Profile? We actually profile our staff now?”

Lara raised my eyebrow at me, “You obviously don’t even read this newsletter, do you?”

I rolled my eyes, “You can’t blame me, I’m just too busy with actually running three of the Hyatt hotels,” I said, “So, who did they profile this month?”

“Some woman who works at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne.”

“Wow, interesting,” I said as I took another sip of my coffee.

“Her name’s Helena Peabody,” Lara added.

“Helena Peabody?” I asked with a laugh, “Really? I’ve been liaising with her through email for a while now.”

“Serious?” Lara replied, looking up at me, “She’s a pretty capable woman, I have to tell you that.”

Bette sees Helena’s pic and compliment her on how lovely she is….now Helena wants a pic of Bette so she can put name to face and no doubt she will like what she sees. Will they ever sees one another in person or will this be one of those cyber infatuation? Either way I’m sure it will be good. pps
