Love in the South – Chapter 4

    Previously…

Without a thinking twice, Tina popped the tape in and pressed play.  They both sat down on the couch and the movie began.

DANA:  (adjusting the camera so it will show her face) O.K. There.  I hope this is right.  Either you’re looking at my face or my breasts, or both (clasps her hands together) O.K. Hey guys!  I got this camera for my birthday so I thought I would try it out.  Bette & Tina are having a Bar-b-que today and Alice is on her way to pick me up. (she hears knocking) Wait, maybe that’s her now.  (Dana grabs the camera, runs to the door, and swings it open.) Hiya Al!

ALICE:  (a little distracted about something) Hey Dane.  What took you so long getting to the door? (she started smiling and pulling at her hair) Dane, where’d you get that camcorder?  What are you doing with it?

DANA:  I thought it’d be fun to take to the bar-b-que today and try it out.  I got it for my birthday remember?

ALICE:  Oh yeah!  From what’s her face!

DANA:  (laughing) Her name’s Amy.  It was a very nice gift.

ALICE:  But you didn’t know her.

    DANA:  We had a moment.

ALICE:  She was just a fan and no, you did not have a moment.  See Dane, that’s where gaydar comes in.  She was straight.  Not to mention married.

DANA:  Oh, yeah! (slumps the camera down showing Alice’s body) I knew she had a ring on, but didn’t think she had it on the right finger.  (looks back into the camera.) Hmmm…(and laughs)

ALICE:  (grabs the lens of the camera and raises it up) Hey!  Let’s keep this film "G" rated will ya?

DANA:  I was thinking more along the lines of "PG-13."  (they both laugh)

    ALICE:  You ready?

    DANA:  Yeah.  Let’s go.

    (and the tape goes snowy)

"Oh My God!  I can’t believe it!  I haven’t seen this tape in years!" Tina said in amazement.  She turned to Bette who had tears coming down her cheeks and reached to turn the tape off.

"No!  Let it play!" Bette demanded.  "I forgot all about this tape!" she said with that Porter smile.

"O.K." Tina said as she sat back on the couch and covered herself with the afghan.

    1. Wow this was good…um…a little spooky if nothing else follows that statement, but I love this story. Hopefully Bette will stay and talk, where is she off to? The kids are staying over right? Does Bette have someone waiting for her? Please post soon.

    2. This is a great story. I think it eerie that Dana says “stop fighting” and they both stop to listen to the tape. Now, if they could only start listening to each other ? Maybe that will be your next chapter.

    3. this is a great story of them finding each other again with kids adds to the bonus part but its a little weird what danas has said but hopefully they will listen to her.please soon not soooooo long of absent next time.

    4. I miss Dana and the rest of the gang too. Why did what’s her face screw with the best gang in the world? Dana always knew how to get people to listen even if it was in her goofy way. That was emotional chapter but nice to see the girls when life was about friends and lovers.

    5. Geez Bette! It takes Dana breaking through an alternate dimension to try to get you to stay and talk to T! Why is it so hard? Listen to your kids…sit down and talk and then live life in the present day! Great story Sue! Can’t wait for more!
