    Author Notes:

    Bette grabs the rebound and kicks it out to Tina. Tina comes down the court and sees Bette double teamed in the post. She passes to the wing and goes to set a pick for Bette. Bette uses the pick to curl to the inside just as the guard passes her the ball. Bette shoots the layup and scores at the winning basket.

    Shane was the quintessential ladies girl.  Like Bette, Shane seemed to be able to pull any girl that she wanted.  She had this aloof air about her that made the girls crazy for her.  Shane and Bette were two peas in a pod.  They had each others back and although they were both players, they never seemed to fight over girls.  Every year there were new students and now that they were both seniors, they have started going to college parties so that opened up a whole new pool of available women.

     
    “I’m in. I love your parties Bette”, said Shane.
    “I never leave alone.” Tina rolled her eyes at her friend. She loved Shane but she didn’t understand how she could sleep with so many girls.  Tina was saving it for the right person. She thought Eric was great but she wasn’t sure that he was the one. She didn’t exactly take a vow of celibacy, she just knew it had to be special. She did love living vicariously through Shane at times.  Shane loved the ladies.

    “I’m so excited baby. I’ve already told my mom I would be over at Tina’s so I can party all night.”  said Desiree. She was best friends with Tina Kennard and she was also Bette’s flavor of the month or was it week?   Desiree and Tina were both in their sophomore year. 

     
    “Thanks a lot Desi.  How am I supposed to use you as my alibi now? I wanted to go over to Eric’s. What if my mom calls your mom?” Tina said.

    “Don’t worry about it.  Just come over to my house at around 8 and I’ll take care of it.  You’ll be with loverboy by about 9 ok?”

    “I better not get into trouble Desi.” Tina sighed.
    “Hey have I ever let you down before?” Before Tina could respond.

    Desi added “Recently. Have I let you down recently?”

    “No you haven’t.”

    “And why is that Tina?” 
     
    “Because you are my very best friend, Desiree.” She made fake kissing noises at her friend. Bette was amused by this exchange.

    “Now that we have settled that.  Tina, you and Eric are welcomed to come to the party.” 

    “Thanks Bette.  That’s nice of you, but I think we are just going to hang out and watch a movie.”  Tina was a little taken aback.  She had never received a personal invitation from Bette herself. ‘This is huge,’ Tina thought.

    4. Great job for your first story. I love that you gave the girls a backstory. I know that movie you are referring to, it was okay. I think that I am going to enjoy your story more.

    7. Excellent beginning. I love that movie as well. I enjoyed the backstory on the characters. Good dialogue and skillful showing of their interconnections.
