    Author Notes:

    Bette grabs the rebound and kicks it out to Tina. Tina comes down the court and sees Bette double teamed in the post. She passes to the wing and goes to set a pick for Bette. Bette uses the pick to curl to the inside just as the guard passes her the ball. Bette shoots the layup and scores at the winning basket.

     
     
    Tina was blond athletic and beautiful. She was also straight. Her boyfriend was the captain of the basketball team. His name was Eric and he was a senior. They have been dating since the beginning of summer and Tina was ecstatic. It was not often that a senior chose to date a sophomore. Tina and Eric made a great looking couple. Eric had boyish good looks and he adored Tina.  She as very mature for her age, at least she was emotionally.   Eric has been taking it slow with Tina, but it was hard at times. (sorry, I couldn’t resist the pun).  He got so worked up with just kissing. Tina was so beautiful.  He loved staring into her hazels.  Sometimes she had this far away look in them.  Eric just assumed she was fantasizing about their first time.  Yeah Eric could wait for Tina, at least for a  while.  Tina was special. Tina did not fit neatly into any box, which is why most people liked her. She was not homophobic. This was obvious by her friendship with Desiree, who is an out lesbian, so gay students were cool with her. She was a solid basketball player, yet she was not cocky, so the jocks liked her as well. Did I mention she was a straight A student, so the bookworms loved her too. 
     
    Tina shared a couple of AP courses with Bette but they were not friends.  Now they would be team mates and Tina just hoped she did well when they played.  In a way she looked up to Bette, and wanted Bette to respect her as a player.
     
    Bette managed to do what no one else could before her. She got both gay and straight kids to party together.  Her parties were legendary. If you were invited to a Bette Porter party, you knew you could likely see two girls kissing in the middle of the floor, or the star football player and head cheerleader grinding in the corner. Yes everyone loved the BP parties. Her parents were cool. Bette was a good student and an excellent athlete, so they trusted her to be responsible.
     
    “Hey ladies.” Bette said as she waived to Shane and Tina. She turned to   Desiree and kissed her cheek.  “Hey baby.” She looked at the other two and asked   “Are you guys coming to my house party after the game on Saturday?”

    4. Great job for your first story. I love that you gave the girls a backstory. I know that movie you are referring to, it was okay. I think that I am going to enjoy your story more.

    7. Excellent beginning. I love that movie as well. I enjoyed the backstory on the characters. Good dialogue and skillful showing of their interconnections.
