    Long Way Home 11 (TLW/BG x-over)

    “I see.”

“And, truth be told, I’ve always wondered about the scene here for women. I used to think of going to San Francisco.”

“It’s nice up there.” Tina sat on the sofa. Not quite at then end, but far enough to not make Nikki feel as if she were being stalked.

“Any place seems nice when you’re in a small room with one window that’s covered with bars.”

“Under most circumstances, San Francisco is still considered a nice place,” Tina countered.

“Anyway, I found out that Helen had a second plan in mind when she got here, and things got a bit heated between us. She’d left, and that’s about when you called.”

Drawing up her legs, Tina pulled her arm around them. “I see.” She wasn’t sure if she should be glad to be the second choice. But, she remembered that she’d promised Nikki no ulterior motives. While she still might find herself drawn to this woman, she had to honor that statement. “Now what?”

“Now? I probably go see Helen and tell her what a prat I’ve been.” Nikki gestured widely a few times, as if unable to clearly choose what she meant to say. “And I shouldn’t even be surprised.”

    “About Helen.”

“Even before we got together, she told me she wanted kids.”

    “That’s what this is about?”

“For some reason, she thought getting inseminated in the US would be better than in the UK. I don’t know why, since the NHS would handle things.” Nikki was growing more upset. “I accused her of using it as a way to say ‘oops, look what happened to me and some fellow on holiday.’”

    Tina mouthed the word ‘ouch.’

“Maybe if she’d told me of this plan before I got her, given me a little time.”

“Do you want to have a family with her?”

“That’s the thing.” Nikki took hold of Tina’s hand, grasping it, as if that would show sincerity. “I do, I really do. It’s just the whole thing, it came out of nowhere.”

Despite the gravity of the situation, Tina could feel a smile beginning. Not only was she unable to stop it, but she also could not stop the open chuckle that accompanied the response.

    1. So Helen is trying to kill 2 birds with one stone on her trip to LALA (no pun intended, at least not yet-let’s see how things go between Helen and Bette when they meet in person)? It’s a long way to go for some sperm, but I seem to recall something about some artwork that Nikki, whom Helen was repping, produced that Bette was interested in showing (I could be wrong, it’s been a long time). Would you please be so kind as to remove the question mark that you keep putting behind the tbc? You write, we read, stop worrying.

    2. I didn’t read this before because I haven’t watched Bad Girls, but then I said to myself, it’s pseud, idiot, read it. Of course, I’m glad I did.

    3. Maybe this is the way that both couples can find peace and back into each others’ arms. Bette and Tina are further apart but maybe by helping Nikki and Helen they can put those pieces together again.

    4. A long way to go for sperm, but you will wait forever under the NHS to get the treatment you want, so can understand why Nikki and Helen have went stateside. I liked Tina in this chapter, very sincere, hopefully her and Bette may still have a chance. Thanks

    5. Ah, so we finally find out Nikki’s source of angst. Understandable, but her heart’s in the right place. Tina’s right though, love’s a good start, and excellent start, but you gotta work at it. If she and Bette are even going to think to try, they got shedloads of work to do. And I can see why Helen’s gone stateside for sperm, more expensive maybe, but the wait is shorter and well… there’s a bit of a donor shortage here. Very good pseud, more please. Thanks
