    End of the journey

     

     

    she looked at Bette

     

    “You two set a date

    for the wedding yet ? “

     

     

     

    “We were talking about it in bed last night and we decided that it would be fitting if we got married on the second anniversary of us meeting up again “

    “Hey that would be so cool “

    “We thought that – lets get inside and introduce the kids to their pets and visa versa “

    When they walked into the sitting room it was a different scene to the one they had left. Dan had woke up and was talking in Dan speak to Alice and Lara — he was fascinated with Lara‘s hair . The twins were on the floor dancing with Helena and Tina who were holding their little hands as they swayed .

     

     

     

    “Okay squad “

     

     

     

    “MOMMY “ Dan started to clamber off the sofa to run to Bette. Shane grabbed him and held him as Helena and Tina took hold of the twins – there was going to be pandemonium any second.

     

    Bette knelt down and opened the first basket – out tumbled two tortoise shell kittens

     

     

     

     

     

    “CAT “ the three kids all shouted at once.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Bette released the catch of the second basket and out bounced a young Labrador who looked around at his new surroundings and went across to Danny who hugged him

     

     

     

     

    “PUPPY – DAN’S PUPPY “ he shouted.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    The next thirty minutes were insane — the twins loved the kittens who took being hugged fairly well. Danny liked the kittens but loved the puppy. Everyone was playing with the kids and the animals and Alice had grabbed the camcorder to record the mayhem.

     

     

     

     

     

    Tina got up to get a glass of fruit juice and have a few minutes silence. She stood in the kitchen hearing the laughter and yelps from the sitting room and smiled. She could not believe her good fortune in having the life that she now had.

     

    Two arms wrapped themselves around her waist and soft lips brushed against her neck

     

     

    “Many would say that we just doubled the work we are going to have to do. “

     

     

    “The kids love them and we can share walking the hound “

     

    “Dan wants to call the puppy Alice because its crazy “

     

     

    Tina snorted

     

     

    “He has your sense of humour do you know that ? “

     

     

    “Helena’s crying with laughter at the thought – I’ll talk to him at bedtime “

     

     

     

    Bette kissed Tina’s neck and slowly moved down until she was feasting on her shoulder

     

     

     

     

     

    “I can see your boobs from here and I am very horny “ she whispered

     

     

     

     

    “All the excitement should knock all of them out. Then I am going to undress you and make love to you by the lights of the tree “

     

    Tina turned and they began to kiss – Bette wet for Tina at once.

     

     

     

    “I want you so much “ she whispered between kisses. Bette was just about to slip her hand down the front of Tina’s trousers when little footsteps came tearing into the kitchen

     

     

     

    “Alice peed on floor “

     

     

     

    Bette held onto Tina as they both laughed. When they disentangled themselves they turned to see Dan looking at them.

    “We’re coming son “ Bette replied

     

     

     

     

    He turned and ran back into the sitting room

     

     

     

     

    “My mommys are kissing “ they heard him reporting

     

    Bette touched Tina’s face

     

     

     

     

    “I love you so much Tina – you have no idea “

     

    Tina kissed Bette

     

     

     

    “Its been a long road but we have finally found our home and its you and I together for eternity “

    16. When Dan came in and said Alice peed on the floor, I thought that he was talking about the human Alice. But then I remembered that he wanted to name the puppy Alice. Loved the kittens part being a cat person. Sweet and hopeful. Sorry to see this end but it was a blast while it lasted.

    45. I can hardly blame the puppy given the prospect of being named after Alice. Well, Ally, all’s well that ends well. Really sweet and of course we all wish we could create such a loving family for ourselves (children optional, personally I’d rather have the dog. As the newly late, great Anita O’Day used to sing “Thank you, thank you, thanks for the boogie ride”.
