    THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD – End Journey

     

     

    YOU ARE INVITED TO THE FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY OF JENNIFER AND KATE KENNARD-PORTER.

     

     

     

    Tina put the final touches to the icing on the cake she was preparing for the twin’s party. She stood back and admired her handy work. The cake said

    ONE TODAY – JEN AND KATE.

     

     

     

     

    As she smiled at the cake she heard a noise coming from the sitting room. Drying her hands on a tea towel she walked through to see what was going on in her absence. Bette was lying on the floor playing with her three children.

     

     

     

     

    The room was decorated with balloons and streamers – as well as the huge Christmas tree in the corner with the sparkling blue and white lights.

     

     

     

     

    “Mama come play “

     

     

     

     

    She had been spotted by Danny who had got up and ran across to her. In Levi’s and a black shirt he looked even more his mother’s son.

     

     

     

     

    Tina picked him up and smothered him in kisses – he returned the kisses. He was a wonderful son – so totally happy and loving.

     

     

     

    “What are you playing Dan ? “

     

     

    “Farm animals – momma is silly “

     

     

     

     

     

    Tina looked down at Bette who was clucking like a chicken and pulling funny faces for her daughters who were watching her enthralled.

     

     

     

     

    Right from the start it was obvious that the twins might look identical but their personalities were not. If a twin was screaming, crying and demanding attention it was Kate. If a twin was sleeping or just staring quietly around at the world it was Jennifer.

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Bette said it was their fault for giving Kate Alice as a middle name. Whether it was a coincidence or not Kate was the total extrovert while Jen was introverted.

     

     

     

     

     

    Tina went across and joined her women on the floor as Danny climbed all over her. Bette looked at her

    16. When Dan came in and said Alice peed on the floor, I thought that he was talking about the human Alice. But then I remembered that he wanted to name the puppy Alice. Loved the kittens part being a cat person. Sweet and hopeful. Sorry to see this end but it was a blast while it lasted.

    45. I can hardly blame the puppy given the prospect of being named after Alice. Well, Ally, all’s well that ends well. Really sweet and of course we all wish we could create such a loving family for ourselves (children optional, personally I’d rather have the dog. As the newly late, great Anita O’Day used to sing “Thank you, thank you, thanks for the boogie ride”.
