    Tina laughed “Says the woman who made the same rash promise on Dan’s birthday and you were found asleep in the garden at 9 O’clock”

     

    “Yeah – that was a foolish promise given that we were getting about three hours sleep a night – who would have thought that they could co-ordinate tag screaming sessions when they couldn’t talk “

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Tina took hold of Jennifer and kissed her who made the same clucking noises as Bette had.

     

     

     

     

     

     

    “God they are such quick learners “ Bette said “You have two brilliantly smart daughters T “

     

     

     

     

    “Yes we do — who’d have thought a one night stand could produce a life time of happiness and love “

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Bette rolled onto her back and lifted Kate up and started throwing her up and catching her. Kate giggled and kicked her feet – loving the action. If Bette did the same thing to Jennifer there would be tears and screams.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    “If I have one regret in the last twelve months it has to be not being there in person when that snivelling turd Henry found out that he wasn’t their father “ Bette said

    Bette laughed “ You okay dude ? “ she asked her son who was hugging Tina and Jennifer

    “Dan is dude “ he replied “Dan is cool dude “

     

     

     

     

     

    “Like Auntie Shane ? “

     

     

     

    “Shane – yeah !! “

     

     

     

     

    Shane loved the twins but there was a bond between Shane and Dan that was special. Shane could get Dan to do anything that Bette and Tina couldn’t. The other one of their friends who had a special bond with Danny was Helena – who doted on her God son.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    They all played for another half an hour until the doorbell started to ring with all the little guests at their party. It was a riotous couple of hours with children everywhere and the house resounding with laughter and love and more demands for ice cream.

    16. When Dan came in and said Alice peed on the floor, I thought that he was talking about the human Alice. But then I remembered that he wanted to name the puppy Alice. Loved the kittens part being a cat person. Sweet and hopeful. Sorry to see this end but it was a blast while it lasted.

    45. I can hardly blame the puppy given the prospect of being named after Alice. Well, Ally, all’s well that ends well. Really sweet and of course we all wish we could create such a loving family for ourselves (children optional, personally I’d rather have the dog. As the newly late, great Anita O’Day used to sing “Thank you, thank you, thanks for the boogie ride”.
