“This is your third time this week. What did you do this time?” She asked.

“Passing notes.” Kelly said

“Again, I should have known that it was that or talking to each other.” Ms. Black asked.

“yeah we thought we were being discreet but we weren’t. I don’t see what the big deal is. I mean we are both doing the self-paced program” Jess said.

“And we are ahead of all the others that are in our study class.” Kelly said.

“Well maybe you two are so ahead because you spend so much time with me instead of going to recess or the other elective classes. Which one are you missing today?” She asked

“Music.” Kelly said happily. She hated singing all the stupid kiddie songs.

“At least I know that I want see you two on Tuesdays.” Ms Black said.

“I wouldn’t miss art for anything.” Jess said.

“Me either.” Kelly added.

“You guys better get to work before someone thinks you are in here having fun.” Ms. Black said. The girls didn’t mind sitting in detention because as long as they got their work done for the day. Ms. Black would let them talk while they were doing it. The last bell rang.

“I hope I won’t see you guys tomorrow.” Ms. Black said.

“You won’t its Tuesday.” Kelly said. The girls walked out of the class room, and to their lockers. They got their softball stuff and headed for the bus.

“James I think that this one needs to go on the other side.” Bette instructed. The gallery was buzzing with people hanging pieces of art and setting up tables for the opening that night.

“Is that good.” He asked.

“Perfect.” She said looking at her watch. “Oh crap there is no way that I am going to be able to get Jess this afternoon.” She walked into her office. She dialed Tina’s number.

“Tina Kennard please.” Bette said.

“May I ask who is calling?” Caroline asked.

“Its Bette.”

“She is just about to go into a meeting. Hold on let me get her.” She said.

“Hey babe. I really don’t have a lot of time.” Tina said.

“Can you get Jess tonight.” Bette asked.
