    Leave the Memories Alone: Prologue

In anger and frustration she slammed her foot on the gas and zoomed away from the school.

She was too angry and distressed to go back home so she merged onto the nearest highway. She would drive away all these conflicting emotions then go home to cuddle into Bette’s arms. Tears slid down her cheeks as she pressed her foot harder on the petal.

She took the curves hard and fast, zooming past other cars and cutting them off. They honked their horns and yelled out profanities in their British and English accents. Some of them yelled insults that Tina did not even understand.

She did however hear a lot of, ‘you bloody maniac!’ She ignored them and kept driving. Even when it started raining suddenly, as it normally did at random times in the city, Tina did not slow down.

Her high speed left little reaction time, so when she saw that truck taking a turn that was too wide she couldn’t dodge it. She slammed on the brakes and they squealed loudly. The cars behind her had more time to stop, but her brakes were slammed on too hard and too fast.

The tires slipped on the wet floor and turned the car. Now her side was going directly to the front of the car. If she had kept her father’s Jeep it would hit the passenger side and she wouldn’t be so badly injured , but that was not the case.

Her mind only briefly wandered on that thought before she thought about her family. What would become of her? Would she ever see Jonathan grow up? Would she ever see Angie worship her again like she used to when she was young? Would she ever see Bette’s kind and loving smile as she looked at her lovingly?

The crash was loud and deafening. She heard only for a few moments before she felt the glass piercing her skin. The seatbelt seemed to be choking her now and she was flipping through the air.

She knew she upside down because the blood was rushing to her head. She couldn’t open her eyes and everything in her body hurt. The smell of gasoline was extremely pungent and overwhelming.
