    Leave the Memories Alone: Prologue

"This is why I liked it when Momma B used to take me," Angie said rolling her eyes.

"Do you see how tired she is? You will not wake her up," Tina said sighing in frustration. Ever since Angie emerged into her teenage years she had gotten a lot closer to Bette than her. She figured Angie could probably relate to Bette more since they were both biracial just like baby Jonathan.

Tina had become the oddball almost instantly and she constantly felt left out. Not from Bette’s part of course. Her wife loved her more than anything in the entire world. From Angie. Angie never went to her for advice or just to talk. She never wanted to spend time with her or be seen in public with her.

Naturally this angered Bette but Tina always insisted that they shouldn’t force Angie to do it because then she would resent her. So Tina had been working hard by taking Angie to school in the morning and picking her up hoping to gain her daughter’s trust and affection.

She emerged wearing casual Levis and a formfitting white T-shirt. She had brushed her hair back into a low ponytail and had washed her face so she wouldn’t look so exhausted.

"That’s better, let’s go," Angie said, "I’m meeting with Ashley and Craig today to discuss the prom arrangements." Tina groaned. She knew that this year Angie would finish high school and if she wished head of to sixth form college. It scared her. but her daughter had managed to get into four colleges and was now choosing which one she would do her A-Levels at. All she had to do was pass her GCSE’s.

"Do you have a date for it?" Tina said following the anxious teen out the door. Tina didn’t really get that at an English prom the date thing wasn’t a big thing. It was more about going having a good time and enjoying the end of sitting their GCSEs. Angie knew that her mother still thought that it was a USA thing.

Angie looked over her shoulder irritated then rolled her eyes. She got in the passenger side of the car and Tina on the other side. It had taken quite a while to get used to the English cars that had the driver’s side on the side she wasn’t used to but eventually she mastered it. She’d also masters that English roads as well as English cars were a lot smaller than most US cars and roads.
