“I didn’t realize it was getting so late,” Beth noticed Shane checking the time. “I really had a fun tonight.”
“Me too,” Shane said.
The easy conversation came to a crashing halt. Both women knew it was time to go and neither wanted to leave. Both contemplated asking the other back to their house and both rejected the idea, knowing that they’d end up in the sack. For the first time in hours, an uncomfortable silence settled over them.
“I’d like to see you again,” Shane said tentatively. To her surprise Beth laughed heartily. “That’s funny to you?”
“No, not at all,” Beth answered quickly. “Not the going out again part anyway, but you must admit that with our history…”
“So, you’ll go out with me again?” Shane’s heart beat a little faster.
“I’d love to,” Beth said softly, her smile putting Shane at ease. “But right now, I’m going to leave because if I don’t go now, I never will.”
She gave Shane a chaste peck on the lips and was gone in a flash. It was five full minutes before Shane was able to drive home.
Helena felt like absolute shit. Not only was she mildly hung-over, she couldn’t get the images of Lara and Shane out of her mind. No matter what she did, they played over and over in her head as she drove back to Malibu. Her thoughts were out of control. Lara wasn’t Winnie. She wasn’t pulling back. Except that she was. She didn’t have to work 18-hour days, but she was. She didn’t have to keep her apartment in town, but she did. Shane must have sensed something to flirt with her so openly. Her emotional control switch finally tripped. By the time Helena Peabody checked on her children, she was preternaturally calm.
“You were wonderful tonight,” Dana said as she and Alice brushed their teeth. “They never had a chance.”
“That’s really sweet, but it was all you Dane.” Alice still marveled at how Dana didn’t understand her own star power. “I think the whole lawsuit thing was just a ruse so they could get some one-on-one time with you.”
“Really?” Dana grinned self-consciously.
“Really.” Alice kissed Dana and then rinsed the toothpaste from her mouth. “What time are we meeting with Stephanie Tate tomorrow?”

hiya SG! In total agreement with everyone else on how great your total storyline development is clicking along! I was hungry for a double cheeseburger after reading your update–am looking forward to more Shane and Beth–this is a twist on Shane that I quite like. Overall, the sense of true friendship comes from your writing- and that makes it way too easy to get invested in your stories! Good stuff…and thanks for the update!
Crap, Helena’s insecurities have come to play. I hope Lara and Helena can work things out. I adore Alice and Dana, they are just SOOOOO cute!
I was just about to shut down the computer and go to bed when I thought I give the site one last check, and I’m so glad I did. I know I’m saying this for the millionth time, but you really do get better every single time you post. It’s amazing to me how you can get me so invested in every single storyline. I doubt there’s ever been a movie, show, book, or anything else that’s managed to do that. This was an excellent update, and it really laid the groundwork for a lot of things to come. Can’t wait to see how everything plays out.
First let me second and third everything MT said in her comments. I am a Danish shipper, but, I find myself invested in all the relationships in your stories. I love the tentative steps that Shane and Beth are taking. So sweet. Helena and Lara are in trouble. I think they need to talk more than they need to have sex. I hope they can get it together since they seem like they are good for each other. Bette and Tina seem to be OK. For now. Stupid TAs. I just adore how you write Alice and Dana. The love, lust, support, respect, joy, etc, etc… is wonderful to read. Talking to the baby is so cute. I can’t wait to see what the plan is for the tabloids. I’m glad Dana is so calm about it — she doesn’t need the stress right now. I’m worried about Alice going back to that hotel. At least Dana will be there with her. I caught up! YAY I read this one aloud too and I have to say it makes my ears hot lol. Awesome update mama I wasn’t expecting the Shane Helena Lara triangle Shane is going to be really fucking surprised to learn she’s in a love triangle eh? I also have to comment on the toothpaste because its so beyond disturbing but the perfect kind of throw away that we are so accustomed to. No Danish sex :( sad face because you know how I love the hot hot heated sexy time they bring or you bring I’m not sure which but yeah I need a lot of that next chapter. I did however enjoy the end scene with Dave and the baby its good that they’re getting aquatinted ahead of time also its beyond adorable. I can’t wait for the next chapter but I hope you won’t make me wait too long (that means I want a snippet) love you mama b! Post Soon!

As always, amazing. I have to agree with Clozzy tho, the lack of Danish lovin’ made me a little sad, but only a little. Also, I love Helena and Lara together, so congrats on making me nervous! haha.
