Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 26C

“Where’s my daughter?” Theresa looked at the cop, then Tina’s friends.

Alice shook her head.  “We don’t know.”  Tina’s outburst directed at her mother was still fresh in Alice’s mind.  The truth was, if any of their friends had been watching Angelica, this wouldn’t have happened.  This had happened on Theresa’s watch and though Alice had told Theresa otherwise, in her heart she blamed the grandmother.  They were all very careful with Angelica.  She was never out of their sight.  “I guess she’s trying to track down her daughter,” she said flatly.

Theresa was shocked by Alice’s response.  She nodded her head and then turned to the cop.  “What are you going to do?”

“I guess one of you needs to get on the phone and tell her to get back here.”

Theresa nodded again.  “All right.  I’ll do that.”

She picked up the landline phone and dialed Tina’s number.

    2:40pm

“Thank you, Zora.  I’ll definitely make that flight.  It won’t be a problem.”  Helena listened.  “Hmm,” she said.  “No, no.  It’s fine to give that date as a return, but I actually don’t know if and when I’m returning.”  She listened.  “Yes.  Yes, that’s fine.  Very well.  Let me just ring off and. . .uh. . .I’ll collect my ticket from the First Class agent, yeah?”  She listened and nodded.  “You’ve really come through for me, Zora.  Thank you so very much.”

Helena was almost home.  She was driving up Pacific Coast Highway now, not too far from the Malibu beach house.   She chuckled.  House, not home, she thought.  Home is. . .  Helena tapped the steering wheel, blinked her eyes, and smiled.  She finished her thought . . .where the heart is.  Home is in Majorca.

The limo arrived on Avenue of the Stars in Century City and Boden seemed to know exactly where to go.  He pulled up to the front of one of the many high-rise buildings and let them off.

“Boden, we’ll need you, too,” Peggy said as she stepped out of the limousine. “And you should bri. . .”

Boden quickly interrupted, “Yes.  Mum.  I’ll drop the limo off and meet you on the roof.”

    1. i am once again left speechless at your incredible ability to weave a tale. i actually yelped in excitement when Angie was safe but at the same time, believe it or not, felt somewhat sorry for Josh. only your writing could evoke that somewhat schizophrenic sympathy.I’m also a bit worried at the introduction of Jodi into the story but hope that after all that we’ve been through with Bette and Tina to date, she will not pose a threat to their relationship.as for all of the other characters and their stories, i am finding them entertaining and interesting as well which is not usually the case when reading as i’m pretty much just a Tina/Bette fan. this again, is testimony to your ability to ability to entertain.thanks again for the story and the time and effort that must be involved. looking forward as always to reading more.

    2. I’ve spent the past two days reading the whole thing, and honestly? It’s great. Really, really great. The characters are well written and adhere to canon, your reweaving of the events of Season 3 into this alternative version is not only really well done, but in my mind — preferable. As for the Jodi issue, if she’s like every other non-core character in your work (herself, but changed), I’ll be very happy to see where that goes. I do wonder, though, moments after Bette is reunited with Tina and her baby for the first time in weeks, she wanders off to talk to Jodi? That seems a little… I don’t know, inhuman? But, hey, if that’s my only complaint in 26 chapters, consider it an amazing feat. I’m a huge Danish fan, and I’m happy to see you keeping the love alive. Would love to see more of that relationship in your writing, but generally I think the chapters are fairly good about being even with their time. You’re prolific. Are you really spitting out this much in three days? Because if so, that’s incredible. I mean, really, really exceptional. Thanks for writing this, it’s a great read, and I can’t wait to see more of it.

    3. Thank goodness Angelica is safe. I’m glad Boden was there. Um, not too excited about Jodi showing up in this story :). Can’t wait for the celebration…hope everyone gets a little ‘private celebration’ time . You’ve really spoiled us this last week Portia. Thanks for this wonderful fic and don’t be gone too long :)

    4. Bette better mess up of jodi!! yeah for angie being okay… now it’s time for the port-kennards to get on with their lives. tina needs to finish her rehab.i wonder what else steph. did what else is she hiding??? great update!!:)

    5. Ahhhh… I can breathe now. That was tense, but Baby A is safe, finally! I’m so glad there was a third person there and Boden clocked that whining maggot Josh. Although, I think Bette would have ripped him apart eventually anyway. Hels is leaving, which is a shame, but her heart’s somewhere else… So! Ol’ Steph’s about to get her comeuppance, big time. I hope Peter gets his money back, as well as his furniture. I’m dreading the stuff coming out that was on that list of hers. Girl needs help, if she can survive prison. This was so good, I can’t wait for the next post. thanks Portia.
