Just The Girl – Chapter Nine (a HYD-inspired fic)
Helena smiled. "Congratulations." A second later, she shook her head in embarrassment. "I’m sorry, I’ve been rude." She extended her hand to Tina. "Nice to meet you. I’m Helena Peabody.."
"I know." Tina said without actually thinking. She blushed as she realized how rude that was. "I mean, nice to meet you too. I’m Tina Kennard." She also extended her hand but drew it back again as she saw the water dripping from it. "Sorry.." She said sheepishly.
"It’s no big deal." Helena smiled as she took Tina’s hand herself from the blonde’s side and shook it gently.
Tina smiled at the brunette as their contact ended. She was really something else.. no wonder Sam likes her so much, she thought. "I’ve always wanted to meet you.." She admitted a few moments later. "Unfortunately for me, I don’t think I made a good impression.." Tina sighed, looking down at her mud covered uniform.
"No no, you’ve made an excellent first impression." Helena smiled sincerely. "And it was really an honor to meet you."
Tina rubbed the back of her neck with her hand as she blushed slightly at Helena’s words. "Th-thanks." She smiled.
Helena cocked her head to the side as she studied Tina’s face with a smile. "I can see why she likes you.." She whispered to herself.
Tina frowned a little as she picked up on what the brunette said. "Excuse me?"
Helena walked a few steps forward and leaned on a sink with her body facing Tina. She looked down on the floor for a while before glancing up and speaking. She knew she was going to be stepping out of bounds with her next words but she really felt the need to explain certain things. "Bette Porter is–"
"–a bitch?" Tina cut Helena with a small smile.
Helena laughed a little as she shook her head to the side. "Yes, she can be a bitch. But what I was going to say is that.. Bette Porter is a child."
"A child?" Tina lifted an eyebrow.
"A child. An overgrown child." Helena nodded. "Children depend on the adults, more specifically their parents, to discipline and teach them about the proper things to do, so that they grow up to know the difference between right and wrong."
