Just The Girl – Chapter Fifteen (a HYD-inspired fic)

"Oh." Bette said, genuinely surprised to learn that the girl before her used to be with her in 4-A. She never really paid her former classmates much attention – as far as she was concerned, the only people who mattered in school were her three friends. "Nice to finally meet you." She said to Jenny before quickly turning back to Tina. "Where do you work?"

"At the Planet in West Hollywood." Tina answered distractedly, closing her locker shut.

"The Planet.." Bette bit her lip, trying hard to recall where she had heard that name before. It sounded awfully familiar. "Oh!" She exclaimed a few moments later. "Is that the one managed by Marina Ferrer?" She asked.

"Yes." Tina answered simply. "You know Marina?" She raised an eyebrow in surprise. Well this certainly is a small world, she thought.

"Sorta." Bette grinned knowingly. Being children of the world’s biggest business tycoons, they were already being groomed to follow in their parents footsteps. Part of their entrepreneurial training was to find good investments for themselves. Bette was investing in real estate and vintage cars, Alice was into vacation resorts and financing small indie films, Sam put her money in restaurants, and Shane.. Bette smiled, dear old Shane was drawn to bars and nightclubs. And if her memory serves her right, she recalled Shane talking about a brand new investment in West Hollywood. Marina, a former upperclassman in Redwind, had approached Shane and pitched her business proposal two months back – the end product of the meeting was that the business-minded player owned the majority of shares in the establishment. Her friend had already inspected the newly opened bar/cafe, and for the past few days had been inviting her friends to join her there for breakfast. Since breakfast with F4 usually entailed missing the first few hours of class, Bette hasn’t taken up on Shane’s invitation just yet. She didn’t want to miss a single minute beside her seatmate – beside Tina.

"Hey.." Tina waved a hand in front of Bette’s face when the brunette suddenly spaced out.

"Yeah." Bette snapped from her little reverie. She looked at Tina and flashed the blonde her famous Porter smile. "You’re going to the party." She stated with finality in her tone.
