If You Never Say Anything to Me ch. 5

“What would you say if I were gay?”

“Are you?” My mom the lawyer rarely committed to something until she knew what the deal was.

“I’m just asking you Mom. What would you say?”

“I’d say that I love you. I’d say that I hope the woman you were with was worthy of you and treated you well. Hell Tina, I’d say the same things I’ve always said. Why the hell would it make a difference to me? Are you gay?”

“I don’t know what I am Mom. I been having some thoughts and am not sure what they are.”

“What about Eric? I know you aren’t enthused about the relationship.”

“I ended the relationship last night.”

“How did he take it? Did he feel there were the same things lacking that you did?” We’ve had numerous conversations about my relationship with Eric.

“Initially he talked about how he thought we would move forward and get married but then admitted there was no passion and we had just become comfortable. I told him that I was having thoughts about women and he thought that my friend Shane had tried something.”

“Had she? Are these feelings for women that you’re having why it wasn’t working with Eric?”

“No…I mean once a long time ago she propositioned me and I declined. Mom, you’ve met Shane. If I fall for a woman, I love Shane but she’s not the type of woman I would fall for. Eric wasn’t working for a long time and me having feelings for women really told me we weren’t meant to be together.”

“What kind of woman would you fall for?”

My first thought was 5’8”, caramel skinned, curly hair, big brown eyes and a killer smile but I controlled myself. “Someone feminine and sweet. Shane is wonderful but she’s too butch for my liking.”

“Tina, not that I care one way or the other nor will your father, but is this something new or have you always had these thoughts?”

“I don’t know Mom. My thoughts are all jumbled. Maybe I’ve had them. Maybe it’s just that Shane and I hang out so much that I’m comfortable. I don’t know. They’re here and I need to figure them out. Are you sure that you and Dad aren’t going to be disappointed in me?”

    1. I really really like your writing and thanks for such an interesting story with the characters being mature for a change. Thanks also for your explanation of how you will handle the therapist issues – I do hate it when fiction basically maligns the profession but your thoughts were well stated and so I will read on without worry.

    2. it’s really nice to see tina’s mom so supportive of her!!i love how you’re writing shane in this story. i always felt when tina finally knows what she wanst she will figure out a way to get it without intentionally hurting anyone. the fact that she is willing to transfer bettes to somone else simplely she maybe be the person to help her, not because of her atttraction to bette, that says a lot about tina as a doctor and a human being. :)PPS

    3. It was nice to see talk to her mother and she was so supportive. I think its sweet that Tina is thinking of transfering Bette to someone new but I think it would back fire. Thanks I am loving this story

    4. Thanks for posting another chapter today of this story, really do like it. And I love the characters and the fact that they are a little older and are looking at things in a more mature fashion. The only drawback seems to be their reticence to voice their feelings to the other but it will happen when the time is right. Tina is being very mature about her feelings and what she should do about them. Her decision to see where this goes and whether or not she should transfer Bette to another therapist shows that she has ethics. Hopefully since Bette talked with Alice she will talk to Tina during the next session. Love the way you’re writing this. Happy Sunday. Post when you can.

    5. Yes NAG…you’re setting up the possibility to transfer her case! I loved Tina’s Mom’s response…shouldn’t everyone’s parents respond like that? Can’t wait until your next update…this is really getting good!

    6. LOL – judging from the comments, must be a lot of cringing psychologist’s reading this! I admit to being glad to see you are manouvering to get around the ethical issues – there is nothing that is more guaranteed to jar me out of a story than the proverbial “that would never happen IRL” – despite the fact this is fan fiction we have such high standards, LOL! LOVE this story, and it’s a measure of your skill as a writer how already the girls have such different personalities than in WOO. Nice that in this story Tina’s Mom has a healthy response to her lesbian/bi daughter.

    7. i don’t want to moan BUT do u think u could space between lines more. my eyes are having difficulty reading even with my glasses on. with the old firefox i could enlarge the text; with the new version i can’t…that’s progress for you!!!! Lol!!!! i’m really into this story, gotta go sleep but have to finish the chapters as well, hugs to baby G…i love that kid already.
