    Homecoming * A Tibette Beginning (Chapters 8 & 9)

Tina wanted to scream that she was in love with Bette, that she had thought of her for the past 12 years with such a passionate intensity it hurt.  She had tried to convince herself that those feelings were so strong because she wanted to be like her, but the reality was that she wanted to be with her.  Seeing her today, sitting there in her classroom brought those feelings back with such force it was as though she had been slammed in the chest.  How could she possibly tell this woman sitting in front of her that she thought she was in love when they had never had an intimate encounter, never a passionate word spoken between him.  Tina felt herself suddenly on the verge of tears.

    "Tina?  Are you okay?"

    "I’m sorry, what?"

"Are you okay?"  Bette leaned forward and placed her hand atop of Tina’s, "You were talking and then you just stopped and looked almost distracted."  She stared at Tina with concern.  Tina looked troubled, even upset and she couldn’t have imagined what would have caused that kind of reaction, unless…unless Tina was aware that there was something more going on between them – and felt that it was wrong.  Bette looked at her hand on Tina’s and with every ounce of willpower she had, pulled away gently.

Tina stared at her empty hand, amazed at the chill Bette’s movement had caused.  She doesn’t want this, she thought to herself.

    "Excuse me ladies, your dinners."

Both women looked at their server with gratitude.  There would be no more conversation.  They would eat, take a cab back to the hotel, and Bette would go home alone and Tina would fly out in the morning, and everything would return to normal.

The pair sat in silence as the cab brought them the short distance to the hotel.  The sadness in the car was so heavy even the driver could feel it.  Tina turned to Bette before getting out of the car,

"Thank you for tonight, it was wonderful.  I’m so glad I got to see you again, I…"  Tina couldn’t continue, she was afraid she’d start to cry and look like a complete idiot.

    2. Thx for posting and clearing up the flight departure thing. I know she’s supposed to leave on Saturday, but she is a big shot movie exec – can’t she just change her flight to Sunday? Come on, let the girls have a play day ; ) pps!

    3. God, you made the tension quite palpable here, I’m amazed ! The way you pictured how mutual insecurities and secret attraction brang our dearest two in a quite unbearable situation was simply brilliant. This chapter is as powerful as a mute cry – heartbreaking, electric and so full of love… But finally, finally !, Tina is the one to break the wall of silence : what a relief ! And now, my goodness, what a wait until your next chapter – quite unbearable too !! Thank you SO much for this marvellous story. I – adore – it – more than ever. ^_^

    4. You know for a minute there I thought you went from a slow burn to a complete cool down, but then you did a 360, and had our Tina go get her woman Bette. Thank you.
