    Homecoming * A Tibette Beginning (Chapters 8 & 9)

"What did James say?"  Tina came around the corner, a tight denim pencil skirt replaced the jeans, but the knee-high black boots remained.

"He said the view was fantastic."  Bette replied in a breathy voice.  The jeans were nice, the skirt was even better

Tina smiled and walked past Bette to stare out the window herself.  She stood dangerously close to the brunette who was no longer looking out of the window.  The view inside the room was far more breathtaking.

"You’re both right" Tina looked from the window and stared into Bette’s eyes, "Absolutely fantastic – breathtaking, even."

The two women stood silently staring at one another.  Bette was the first to break the awkward silence.

"I…uh…made a reservation for this little place in the North End.  We can walk over or take a cab, whichever you’d prefer."

"Let’s walk.  I love Boston in the fall."

"Sure."  Bette opened the door for Tina as the blonde grabbed her leather jacket on the back of the chair, following close behind.  "The restaurant doesn’t have a bar.  We can stop for a drink along the way or we can head straight to the restaurant to see if they’re ready for us."

"Why don’t we head to the restaurant – there are enough places in the North End where we can grab a quick drink if need be."

The pair made it down the elevator and onto the street in relative silence.  Tina glanced over at Bette a few times out of the corner of her eye.  With her hands hidden away in her pockets, she could re-assure herself, without notice, that this wasn’t a dream by digging a fingernail into the fleshy part of her hand.  Bette would have given anything to be able to shove her hands in her pocket as well, but she didn’t have a jacket.  She tried to keep her hands busy, tugging at the purse on her shoulder, mostly because she wanted nothing more than to grab Tina’s hand as they walked along.  Instead, she inhaled the crisp fall air in deep, full breaths, one hand fiddling with her purse, the other hanging loose by her side.

    2. Thx for posting and clearing up the flight departure thing. I know she’s supposed to leave on Saturday, but she is a big shot movie exec – can’t she just change her flight to Sunday? Come on, let the girls have a play day ; ) pps!

    3. God, you made the tension quite palpable here, I’m amazed ! The way you pictured how mutual insecurities and secret attraction brang our dearest two in a quite unbearable situation was simply brilliant. This chapter is as powerful as a mute cry – heartbreaking, electric and so full of love… But finally, finally !, Tina is the one to break the wall of silence : what a relief ! And now, my goodness, what a wait until your next chapter – quite unbearable too !! Thank you SO much for this marvellous story. I – adore – it – more than ever. ^_^

    4. You know for a minute there I thought you went from a slow burn to a complete cool down, but then you did a 360, and had our Tina go get her woman Bette. Thank you.
