Home Part 14
It all went well. They met the doctor and he said Chris was doing fine and would be able to discharge in the afternoon. They thanked him and walked into Chris’ room. Dana stood beside him and caressed his cheek. My son, she thought and smiled to herself. She wrapped her arm around the blonde’s waist as they watched Chris sleep. They chuckled when they saw Chris scrunched his nose and mumbled about something and smiled his goofy grin. The two argued with their voices down about who Chris had inherited the sleeping demeanours from and then pulled each other in and make out like teenagers. They broke the kiss when a nurse cleared her throat and walked in to check on Chris. She smiled at the pair as they were blushing for being caught and told them that she needed to check on Chris and asked them to come back later. The two kissed Chris’ forehead and whispered goodbye and I love you before making their way out. The nurse smiled to herself and whispered to Chris that he had two wonderful mums.
Time flies and Dana had to board the flight back to LA tomorrow’s morning. She had no choice as she had already postponed the flight for another two days and she had to report for duty as the tennis coach in UCLA the day after tomorrow. Throughout her stay she and Alice had been contemplating on how to tell Chris about his ‘other’ mother and also how to work on their long distance relationship. Dana thought deeply about that and decided that she had to tell Chris before she boarded the flight. She knocked onto the door. Once it opened it revealed a very happy fair haired boy grinning from ear to ear. She walked into Chris’ room and sat on one of the chairs. She looked at the boy and smiled. He had fully recovered from the fever and was still contemplating which outfit to wear for a morning walk at the park. Dana helped him to choose one of his favourites and ten minutes later they were ready to go. Alice was standing in front of the door, worried about the whole revealing thing. Dana squeezed her hand softly to assure her it was going to be fine. She and Chris said goodbye to Alice and headed out to the car. Alice just stood there until they were out of sight. She exhaled and hoped everything would be fine. She was also saddened at the fact that Dana would be leaving soon. She closed the door and headed to the bathroom for shower, trying very hard to not cry but failed miserably.

I wouldn’t have known you had writer’s block based on this excellent chapter! I love Dana and Chris together. They are just too cute. I also love the relationship between Alice and Dana. They really seem to be trying to communicate and reconnect. The tennis player vs. journalist debate on Chris’ future will rage for many years, though, I’m sure. ;-D Thanks, uhhuh!!
The conversation w/ Dana, Chris is so smart. It must have been hard for the 5 year old kid waking up at night to find his mother crying. Thanks uhhuh for this excellent chapter.
