    Author Notes:

    Everyone’s home from New Year’s. Jenny talks with Shane, prompting Max to take action; Bette and Tina talk in Bette’s bed; Alice and Dana begin to rekindle with only themselves this time; Carmen and Lara dance.

    The anguish in Shane’s voice is noticeable and it tears away at Jenny just the same.

    Jenny: ….Fuck, Shane.  After everything we’ve been through.  You’re the only one I trust this much anymore…

    Shane: Look, I don’t know what I’m feeling right now, okay?  I don’t.  I just need to lay down…alone.  Alright?

    Jenny nods.

    Jenny: Okay.  Goodnight, Shane.

    Jenny turns around and enters her bedroom, closing the door behind her.  Shane stands in the hallway.  She looks at the door to Jenny’s room…and takes a step forward.  She grits her teeth and turns around.  She wants to be in there with her right now.  She wants more not to cause anymore damage.  Shane opens the door to her bedroom and enters, closing the door behind her.  Now Max walks down the hall.  Something’s gotta be done.

    One house over, Bette sits on the side of her bed, her hands in her lap.  The door is open as Tina walks in.  Both are in their pajamas as Tina approaches Bette.

    Tina: Little Angelica’s sound asleep.

    Bette: She should be okay sleeping in your room tonight.

    Tina: Yeah.  She should.

    Tina takes a seat immediately to Bette’s right on the bed.

    Tina: Sobering up yet?

    Bette: Very much so.  Everything just felt different tonight.

    Tina: It did.

    Bette: It didn’t feel right.  Nothing felt right tonight.

    Tina: I know it’s been a crazy few days…not just for us, but for everybody.

    Bette: It’s been a crazy everything for us.

    Tina: We’re getting through it, Bette.

    Bette turns to Tina.

    Bette: We are?

    Tina: I hope so.

    Bette: You know, Tina…I just never really let myself just…let everything go.  Even last night, I just held in as much as I could.

    Tina: You’re holding in a lot.  You need to let everything out.  And if…you need me to leave the room, I will.

    Bette: No.  Please don’t go anywhere…

    Tina: Okay.  I’m right here.

    Bette: I’m glad you are.  You know that…?

    As Bette and Tina begin to share in a moment of solace, Max enters Shane’s room after Shane had just entered it.  Shane turns around.

    Shane: Listen, I just don’t-

    Shane realizes it’s Max.

    Shane: What do you want?

    Max: Shane…  I know I shouldn’t really get in this, but…you need to go in there.

    3. Huh. Seems it really wasn’t just the heat of the moment. (side note: Is it only me that thinks of the song by Asia any time I see that phrase?) Max is totally left out in the cold, I feel bad for him. Al and Dana and Carmen and Lara are all luvvied up, separately, thank goodness. And it looks like Tina’s shaking the dust off. Guess they’re not done after all. I liked that interwoven lyrics/story thing you did again… that’s a lovely song. And where’re Winnie and Helena? Nice update!
