    Everyone’s home from New Year’s. Jenny talks with Shane, prompting Max to take action; Bette and Tina talk in Bette’s bed; Alice and Dana begin to rekindle with only themselves this time; Carmen and Lara dance.

    Time passes and everyone finds themselves back in their homes and their beds.  Alice and Dana reacquaint themselves in bed.

    Dana: So here we are.

    Alice: Yep.  Here we are!

    Dana: Al…are you…gonna be okay without Lara here?

    Alice bites her lip and looks at Dana.  She smiles.

    Alice: You’re here.

    Dana: The crazy things we do for love, right?

    Alice: Yeah.  Maybe we should just…keep things simple from here on out, huh?

    Dana: Well…maybe some things can be retained…but…you really are all I need, baby.

    Alice wraps her left arm around Dana’s shoulders and kisses her on the lips.

    Alice: You’re all I need, too.

    While Alice and Dana begin to find each other once again, Carmen and Lara stand face to face in front of their bed.  Their hands grasp one another.

    Carmen: I was hoping you and I could have one more dance tonight.

    Lara: I’d like that.  And it would be a pleasure.

    They kiss in the candlelit bedroom of Carmen’s apartment.  Their plan is to savor every moment that they can together.

    Lara: I’ll even let you lead.

    They both smile.  Carmen reaches for a nearby remote, ready to activate just the right music for them.

    Jenny’s house has an eiree quiet to it as Max takes in a late night snack while the news plays on the television in the living room.  He walks out of the kitchen and towards the living room, only to see and hear Jenny and Shane conversing.  He passes by the hallway and stops as he hears Jenny’s voice pleading.

    Jenny: Shane…!

    Max observes from behind the corner.  The news on the television is no longer a concern to him.  Jenny is.  Shane begins to pull away from Jenny’s arms.

    Shane: Look…I don’t know how to react to this, Jenny.  I don’t!

    Jenny: Well…neither do I, Shane…

    Shane: I…I know…I know we’ve been close and we’ve been getting real close lately and you know there’s been a lotta shit and everything, but this…?  This?  Jen…

    Jenny: It’s okay, Shane.  When that clock struck Midnight, I felt som-

    Shane: Jenny, I don’t wanna hurt you!  It’s all I ever do!  And if I do that to you…Jen…I won’t be able to live with myself.  I won’t.  I can’t take that risk…I just can’t…

    3. Huh. Seems it really wasn’t just the heat of the moment. (side note: Is it only me that thinks of the song by Asia any time I see that phrase?) Max is totally left out in the cold, I feel bad for him. Al and Dana and Carmen and Lara are all luvvied up, separately, thank goodness. And it looks like Tina’s shaking the dust off. Guess they’re not done after all. I liked that interwoven lyrics/story thing you did again… that’s a lovely song. And where’re Winnie and Helena? Nice update!
