    Alice and Carmen have a confrontation which leads to Carmen and Dana having a heart to heart discussion; Bette calls for an intervention; Lara goes home.

    They pull into the parking lot, with Dana seeing Carmen’s car, but not Lara’s.  Dana always remembered Lara parking in the same space.  With the anxiety beginning to take over Alice however, there is no time to focus on that as much now.

    Alice: God, I hope she’s here.

    Tina: My legs are going numb…

    Shane: Yeah, it’s a little cramp back here.

    Alice: Don’t worry, we’re here.  There’s Carmen’s car.

    Alice parks her vehicle and everyone exits.  Shane and Tina stretch their legs to get the feeling back and the four friends gather around.  Dana can see Carmen walking towards a door.

    Dana: Al, come on!

    Alice and Dana look back at Shane and Tina, still stretching after riding in the backseat.

    Shane: I’m just gonna wait here.

    Tina: Same.  We’ll call you if we see Lara show up.

    Alice: Okay.

    Alice and Dana walk at a frantic pace after Carmen as Shane leans against the back of Alice’s car.  Tina leans against the car, directly to Shane’s left.

    Tina: God…things have been crazy lately.  It’s like we can’t slow down.

    Shane: I know, man.

    Shane sighs and looks at Tina.

    Shane: You okay?

    Tina gives a huffing laugh under her breath.

    Tina: I’ve been better.

    Shane: It sucks about Henry.  I know you liked him a lot…

    Tina: Just the way life is for me, Shane.  It’s like one screw up pill after another for me.  Everything used to make so much sense…now it doesn’t.

    Shane: I hear ya.  You and Bette gettin’ along?

    Tina: Yeah…we’re…working things out…sort of.

    Shane: Sort of?

    Tina: We live together…just not sleeping together.  It’s like the way it was before I met Henry.

    Shane: I’m sorry, Tina.  I just don’t get it, though.  You and Bette had everything.

    Tina: Times change…shit happens.  And I guess this time, I’m to blame for it.

    Shane: Nah.  You’ve been through stuff before.  You’ll get through it.  You guys used to be an inspiration.

    Tina: We were?

    Shane: Yeah, man.  Whenever I would think that true love wasn’t possible, I’d look at you two.  And if the two of you can’t get through your problems, what chances do the rest of us have?

    1. Yes!! It finally happened! Love the pairing and love the story. I get the impression that Alice is also secretly in love with Lara, maybe even more so than with Dana…? Think of the friction! Can’t wait for the next post, thanks Kace.

    2. I echo above comments, Dana: nice lame excuse, but at least you’re talking; Alice crushin’ on Lara a bit? And Lara maybe (gasp) ready to be happy with someonea and get the respect she deserves a la Carmen? And wait, is the ‘where it all began’ thing… Carmen herself? Or am I missing Lara’s ‘the answer to your question is you’ thing. I’m confused. But that’s OK, I often am. LOL. Please post soon and I love how this fic is unfolding. Very textured and just MARVY!

    5. That’s the wishy-washiest excuse for “having your cake and eating it too” *ever*, Dana. I can’t believe she’s disguising such selfishness as not wanting to hurt Lara. And Alice… I still don’t understand her deal. Those two deserve each other; Lara deserves better. Bette’s idea for an intervention might be a little too late, though. Seems like Lara’s made a choice? (I hope?) Urgh. Despite any um, obvious bitterness, I liked the chapter, Kace. Post when you can, and feel better soon. Cheers
