    Here’s the end. At least as far as I can see. (Chapter 32, for those of you keeping track – and some of you definitely are!)

    "You go first," Tina said. "It doesn’t take me as long to dry my hair."
    "You just don’t want to be the one to face Angie first," Bette charged.
    "Well, that’s true," Tina admitted. "But I really don’t need as long to get ready either."
    "We could shower together?"
    "The sound of us showering together will necessitate some kind of future therapy for our child," Tina said. "Go shower."
    "Good way to start the day," Bette commented.
    "Absolutely," Tina replied. "Now go."
    Bette leaned for one last kiss before rising out of bed.
    They were soon gathering around the kitchen table to share breakfast as a family.
    "I can hear," Angie said as Tina took a seat.
    "I’m sorry," Tina repeated.
    "Your parents have sex," Bette said, placing a glass of fresh apple juice in front of each of them. "Get over it."
    "You’re not that loud," Angie directed this comment to Bette.
    "Please stop this conversation!" Tina said. "I’ll be quieter."
    "Play some music or something," Angie said.
    "We thought you were sleeping," Tina said.
    "Who can sleep through that?" Angie asked. "Seriously mother."
    "Oh oh, she ‘mothered’ you," Bette said. She went on to speak directly to Angie. "Loving affection between consenting adults is a perfectly natural way to experience your sexuality. You are hereby forbidden from doing it until you’ve completed your first Bachelor’s degree."
    "Eww, as if I ever want to do it," Angie grimaced.
    "Good girl," Bette said.
    "Bette, don’t be ridiculous," Tina said. "Your mom’s kidding. Just know that we’re here for you to talk to when you decide it’s something you are interested in exploring. Just remember those kinds of decisions are your decisions."
    "Don’t let anyone try to talk you into anything you’re not interested in," Bette reiterated. "And there are things you need to do to protect your health."
    "Okay, next time I won’t say anything," Angie sighed. "You two doing it always turns into me getting a sex talk."
    "Nothing wrong with being informed," Bette said.
    "There’s such a thing as too much information," Angie put a spoonful of oatmeal in her mouth.
    "Well, I disagree," Tina said. "And a few uncomfortable breakfasts is worth it for you to know that you can talk to us about anything."
    "I know I can," Angie said. "And it’s way better than Emily’s parents. She says all she ever hears is them fighting. I definitely don’t say what I hear you two doing."
    "See?" Bette said. "It’s good for kids to know their parents love each other."
    "I guess it’s good in a way," Angie reluctantly agreed. "I know I’m not going to come home at the end of the day and find one of you has moved out."
    "Sweetie, I know it’s hard to see your friends going through that," Tina said. "That’s not us."
    "Feels kinda good that way," Angie admitted. "But seeing you two hold hands gives me the same security, just so you know."
    "Message received, love," Bette said. "Maybe we’ll get our bedroom soundproofed."
    Angie shook her head and continued eating her breakfast.
    Bette winked at Tina, who offered a smile and a wink in return. And they all finished their breakfast in silence before going their separate ways for the day, secure in the love they shared as a family.

Bette properly embarrassing Angie, Tina trying to divert attention to another topic and Angie realizing and verbalizing her parents for each other and for her. Thanks for fulfilling your promise of 32 chapters. You can write and have a great sense of humor. ;-)

    23. You say it’s the end but clearly your adoring fans think otherwise ;0) Loved this series Swimmie! Angie made me laugh out loud. I remember the “sex talks” with my mom. Embarrassed the hell out of me as a kid but later I was grateful for her openness. As others have mentioned, it’s nice to read a healthy version of Tina and Bette (the potential was always there too bad IC didn’t run with it). I’ll look forward to future posts. I really enjoy your writing.

    26. Awww, this is sweet, funny and embarrassing at the same time. Given their strong foundation, I had a feeling this version of Bette and Tina will have a totally different and far better romantic history than the ones on the show. That sweet morning interlude perfectly captured their enduring love. This Angie is like the older version of the Angie in “A Second Chance at Forever” and I love her! I have many friends who cringe at the thought of their parents having sex and I have friends whose children have caught them having sex. Awkward and embarrassing for both parties but they will all learn to get past it. Parents have sex, it happens. But if Tina will keep her promise to be quieter, Angie will be less embarrassed. Or maybe she can use a headset. I LOL at Bette’s suggestion to soundproof their bedroom. The “soundproofing” line reminded me of two of the loveliest and funniest stories I’ve ever read here: Alchemy’s “Just the Girl” and Spumoni’s “Backstory”. It’s been a pleasure reading this story, your writing, jks. Many thanks for your creativity and generosity! By all means, take a break. But I hope you won’t stay away too long. Take care, jks.
