"Is there anything in particular you want for Valentine’s Day?" Tina asked.
They were both reclined in bed, propped up against the pillows with the lights on, reading.
"I want this every day," Bette replied. She didn’t bother taking her eyes off the page. They’d had the discussion often enough.
"Okay," Tina replied.
That got Bette’s attention.
"Really? Even though you have three months left on your lease?" Bette asked.
"I haven’t been home for the last two weeks," Tina reasoned. "Only technically do we even maintain separate households anymore. It’s been that way since Christmas."
Bette slipped off her glasses and set her book down. She then reached for Tina’s book, carefully marked the page she was on, and set it down as well.
"There’s a catch," Tina said.
"Yeah, I finally caught you." Bette cuddled in and started kissing Tina’s neck.
"Bette, this needs to be formalized," Tina said. "I don’t want either one of us to think I’m moving into your house. It has to become our house. Legally and practically."
At first, Bette thought Tina was kind of taking the romance out of what was a significant step in their relationship. But she understood what she was saying.
"I’ll get a loan to pay you 50% of whatever equity you have in the house, and then we start splitting costs," Tina continued. "And my name goes on the deed."
Bette quietly listened to Tina’s conditions. She knew she was right. If they were going to do this, she couldn’t expect Tina to take all the chances. Giving up her place had been the sticking point.
"Tell me what we need to do next to make it happen," Bette said. She was willing to do whatever Tina wanted to prove her commitment.
"This topic isn’t making you back down?" Tina asked.
"No, this topic tells me you’re as serious as I am," Bette replied. "We’ll have to get a market appraisal done first, right?"
"I’ll make a few calls in the morning," Tina said. "Figure out what the process is."
"So we’re done talking about the business part for now?"
"Oh, come on, after this conversation, you know you’re so gonna get laid right now…" Tina rolled her eyes.

I’ve been a silent reader until now, but have followed your story from the beginning. Thanks for writing it. While your story may have have lacked drama, I think that’s because you chose to write both Bette and Tina as smart, fair-minded, kind and loving characters. Makes for great people but not necessarily great drama. Not to worry, though, it’s been nice to spend time with people like these two.
This can’t possibly be the end. I could have sworn you promised us more chapters. Ah well will take what I can get. I like how you describe the most boring of things but actually male them interesting. I mean the seriousness of co signing a home, that was sweet but actually don’t legally right. Awesome story jks, please promise us you will be back soon.

Just got around to finishing this – had to savor it, like a rare and decadent treat. I love the way your writing unfolds. Don’t try to force a plot or drama. The beauty is in the words – the nuances, the dialogue, the emotions evoked and the issues raised. Can’t wait for the “voices in your head” to start calling again.

Man, I’m late to the party. You posted this last night and I’m just reading it now? How did that happen? Oh, yes now I remember. Someone, *cough JKS*, introduced me to Lost Girl and I was playing catch up of season two. Swimmie, all good things must come to an end, but I could have sworn you said 32 chapters. I guess that means an epilogue is in the works…no rush with that one. Thanks for this story and all of your other stories. It’s been a delight reading them. And I agree with purpleprints.

Wonderful update and conclusion. Although I hate to see this wonderfully loving story come to and end. Okay you said a couple chapters back that it would end with number 32, so I hope you will be giving us an epilogue or something of the sort to make it number 32. At any ratwe it has been pure joy to read this loving story between two mature adults that just happen to be wild about each other. Makes for agreat read and now I get to go back and start from the beginning and read straight through, love to do that. Thanks so much for this story. Drama can be fun but it was refreshing to see the interactions between two emotionally healthy people. They aren’t perfect but they both have enough self confidence to take care of their own needs in a relationship. And they are able to communicate those needs to each other….very enjoyable to read. Please post another story when you have time.
