    Alpha Bette is back.

     

                “What do you mean?”  Bette was pleased but confused by the praise. She took the certified check that Phyllis handed her and read that that was in the sum of seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars.  Bette was shocked.  Three quarters of a million dollars more than met her fundraising target. “What are the restrictions?”  Bette asked when she gained the ability to speak again.

     

                “The only restriction is that the funds be used to sustain or enhance the School of Art under the current Dean.”  Phyllis replied.

     

                “You didn’t know the amount of her donation?” 

     

                “No.  She was apologetic for insisting on dinner and shortly after we met she gave me the check and told me that I was off the hook for dinner if I wanted to be.  I had no idea.  I just slipped it into my purse because I was having a nice time and didn’t want the donation to get in the way.”

     

                “Well, next time let the donation get in the way.”  Phyllis laughed.  Seeing the dark cloud that seemed to be gathering above Bette’s head she quickly amended her statement.  “Just kidding. I am so pleased by this news.  Great work, Bette.”

     

                Phyllis left and Bette became lost in thought reviewing her dinner date.  Rosanna was a social worker and psychotherapist.  She was the founder and CEO of a well-known and respected mental health agency in the State of California. Her home base was in LA but there were satellites across the state now. Bette had no idea that Rosanna was as wealthy as she obviously was.  If she even had fixed a donation amount in her mind it would have been in the thousands not the hundreds of thousands.  There was a lot more to Ms. Montclair than met the eye. It was a mystery that Bette intended to solve.

     

                Rosanna turned on her computer to check the e-mails that had piled up overnight.  She sighed as the total was over thirty.  Did people ever just relax anymore?  Must we be connected twenty-four seven. She admitted it was a necessary evil of present day life; still she yearned for the days of appointment books that fit into your briefcase or purse.  It was important to take time to actually smell the flowers or look at the painting not just the Internet rendition.

    2. Sorry to say, Tina, but Bette will ALWAYS be able to overthrow your senses. Fact. (PS, I ADORED Bette fouling Tina in the BB game!) Alpha Bette like she’s never been seen before has showed up in s4, and I couldn’t be happier. Of course, I love your story, too! :) Thanks!

    3. They will always have some control over each other. Like how they order the same thing for lunch and push the hair off their forehead together. Bette fouling Tina in the B/b game was priceless. Tina is a girlie girl. Glad that Bette is getting her self together. thanks

    4. I wondered why Bette was fouling Tina so much. I would have thought that Bette would have stayed miles away from her. Tina needs to some how make things better or it is all over and Bette will have moved on which would not only break Tina’s heart but mine also.

    6. Kelika, Good to see how you are twisting the current season into this story. Do I detect some heat between Bette and Rosanna? I think that this pairing could ignite the screen. Question is if it can sustain itself and develop into a loving partnership. It would be interesting to see Bette as the less successful partner given Rosanna’s wealth and position. Wonderful writing as Phyllis starts to ease out of the closet and Bette regains her sexual prowess. Will be waitng for your next post. Many Thanks from Your Loyal Fan.
