“What’s in the envelope?” Tina asked when they sat down for breakfast.
“You’re supposed to open it to find out, T… but baby… eat something first, you’re starving.”
Tina did what Bette asked. She filled up on fresh fruit, pancakes, strawberry and orange juice, and coffee all the while stealing glances at the envelope.
“Can I open it now?” Tina asked, looking at Bette like an excited child.
“Sure…”
With overly slow moves Tina picked up the envelope. She turned it around in her hands and let her fingers move over the thick, high quality paper.
“I have to be at work in 45 minutes, T… could you speed it up a little…?” Bette asked, so wanting to see Tina’s reaction to her gift.
“… Okay, now I have to hurry?” Tina giggled.
“Mmmm! Anticipation is overrated when it come to gift giving….”
Tina tore the envelope open.
“… oh, Bette… Aspen… we’re going skiing?”
“In January… if you can get a week off from work…” Bette beamed.
“We always talked about going…”
“Yeah, and now we are…”
Tina jumped up from her chair and into Bette’s arms practically knocking her off her seat. “I love it Bette… thank you… thank you…” Tina whispered in between placing kisses all over Bette’s lips.
“You’re welcome, T… I thought it was about time….”
Tina straddled Bette’s lap, resting her arms over Bette’s shoulders, “When did you plan this?”
“It’s an idea I’ve been working on since we went to Ojai Valley together… you and me and all that mountain air… It was great… and we never got to use fireplace at the spa… which I still regret, by the way… I made reservations for this amazing ski lodge with a huge fire place… can you just imagine, T?”
“Yeah, I can imagine… it’ll be incredible… very romantic…. and I’ll get to watch while you tumble down the slopes…” Tina giggled.
“I don’t plan to tumble anywhere…”
“You never went skiing before did you?”
“No… but I’m a fast learner… besides, how hard can it be?” Bette said with her usual confidence.
Tina laughed, “hmmm… well, you’re in great shape so you’ll probably catch on pretty quickly…”
“I would think so… So you like the gift, baby?” Bette asked, gently tucking Tina hair behind her ears.
“A whole week… just you and I… playing in the snow… long romantic nights… how could I not completely love this gift, baby. I can’t wait to go…”
“Good… but T, I need to get going… I’ll see you around 4.30 pm though…”
“Mmmm…” Tina smiled.
“You’re not going to move?” Bette asked, slipping her hands around Tina’s waist to her behind.
Tina slowly shook her head no.
“Hmmm… what to do….? What to do…?”

Thanks Anker…I have this shyt awful housework to do!!!! I have let it accumulate…like clothes over four rooms etc. TIME TO CLEAN UP!!!…but I saw your story and I’m such a sucker for your B & T that I just had to read…awesome as always, so much detail, and the birthday cliffie (lol)…in an anticipation of your next post I will now go off to do albeit reluctantly the housework, hoping that when I’m finished you MAY have posted the 2nd half of the birthday girl’s present….gotta love James…as for alphabette…ouch!!! she’s a teaser!!!

I love your Bette and Tina. They have worked out a lot of their problems and seem to continue to talk through them. Tina is sneaky and fun. First she has Bette meet her at work to shut up her co-workers and now this surprise to Bette’s office. Looking forward to more B&T soon.

Hey anker, this was a very nice Saturday surprise post. I love how you write B&T together and I am sure in the next chapter things are going to heat up at the office. LOL!! Hey, Anker! As always, your post brightened up the day! Love it when Alphabette comes out to play…love it even more when Tina tweaks her carefully thought out plans. What do you think? Can Bette totally embrace the journey off the well thought out path or does she stress (even a little) that Tina has changed -even in a good way- the ideas she mapped out as Tina’s perfect birthday? Anker… do you *really* want to hear me sing? I don’t think you know what you’re letting yourself in for… Do you have enough medical insurance to repair the damage to your ears? Are you ready to go through extensive therapy to recover from the mental anguish of my off-key warbling? Heed my warnings: it won’t be pretty. I don’t know if the cuteness from the puppies and kittens would be enough to counteract the damage of me mangling show tunes… And the nightmares, you ready for those too? Okay, I’m maybe not that bad. Wait, that’s a blatant lie: I am. Besides, I live at sea level… even going up a slight hill makes my ears pop, so if I get up towards the mountains to imitate the von Trapps, my head would likely explode. So, you’re likely safe from me and my singing… or are you? Dare to mention that word again, and you may find out… ;) Right, on to the chapter: T showing off Bette at the Center was too cute, yet, still hot. Heck, if I were Tina, I’d take out full-page ads in newspapers and hire billboards to show Bette off, complete with a hotline number for the jealous onlookers: 1-800-U-ENVY-ME. I can’t wait to see what T has in store for Bette… she has a whole 70 minutes (I’m allowing 5 minutes to correct things in case either– or hopefully both of them– are en déshabillé… yes, that’s a hint, anker) to pay Bette back for leaving her in that state, on her birthday, no less! I’m behind on my reading, but as always, it’s such a pleasure to read your story. Excellent post, thanks anker.
anker, awesome as usual. Tina wanting to show Bette off (while totally understandable!) WAS SO CUTE. Bette wouldn’t have made it out the door that morning… grrrrr… even WITH surprises later. :) James is about the best assitant ever… I need to get one of those… LOL
