Chapter 33 – Days of Fun and Then New Haven
Bette: Humm… I never thought of that period like that before. All I remember was how much I wanted you and yet I knew you were not ready. I also knew that you would eventually let me know when you were ready. I think it was our first walk on the beach after our first dinner together that I knew there was something really special about you. Something that I needed in my life. Something that was so rare, that I may never see those qualities again in my lifetime. You were so exciting, intelligent, so humorous, and so elegant. You had this light coming from within and that for me was a homing beacon as far as I was concerned. My very soul was saying go to the light. This is where you belong. And the more I got to know you, the stronger the light became.
Tina: I saw the same thing in you. I was more worried that you might be the one of those Greek mythological Sirens. But you proved yourself not to be. You were so patient with me. If our roles were reversed, I could never have been as patient as you were. I would have probably been a little more insistent that you take a leap of faith and come be with me.
Bette: T. The way it went was absolutely perfect for us. It has worked out well, with the exception of a few rough spots. We are both here, together, in love. I do love you so very much and I do thank you for hanging in there with me. And now we need to get up and be with our family. They are probably waiting for breakfast.
Tina: I can think of no other place I want to be. Yes, now give me a kiss and then let’s go shower and get dressed for the day.
Bette pulled Tina into an affectionate knowing kiss. A kiss that recognized the closeness and the bond between the two. A kiss that said, I am here for you no matter what. They both smiled and moved out of bed. Bette started making the bed as Tina went to the bathroom first. They began their morning routines as they had done so many mornings in the past which only varied with the amount of mischievousness or lack of time which various mornings seem to bring.
