    C O U N T D O W N: Missing Hours

”President-elect Donald Trump’s non compos mentis exhibits as a psychosis.  Signs of this as being true are observable and well documented. Here is a list of behaviors that should be setting off alarm bells that America is on the brink of violating its Constitution.  Up until this moment, I had believed these catastrophic signals had been falling upon deaf ears.  This I’d found disturbing and increasingly odd.  Five days out from inauguration, I’m grateful to share them with you.

”First, Donald Trump is a compulsive liar.  Second, he experiences events by way of interpreting them through his hallucinations that he believes are real. Third, his mental derangements, his inability to recall events as they truly occurred minutes, hours or days before, is an acute form of psychosis.”

Then I had sat down, brushed a bit of horse hair off my jacket, crossed my legs and had waited for them to spring into action.

But that’s not what had happened and we are still sitting here.

    The missing hours…

I hear the rustling of clothing off to my left and I tense at what I suspect will be another question that challenges my patience. Is it possible they believe the laws of science could have changed in these last hours?  That the facts of neurology will be different and by waiting they’ll get a different set of answers out of me?

When the rustling stops I turn my attention from the doorknob to a man in a suit who asks, ”What medical proof do you have Dr Porter that President-elect Trump’s mentally impaired?”

”That’s a great question, as I’ve said the last twenty times you’ve asked it, and I’ll repeat for the twenty-first time my answer:  Your use of the word ”impaired” slights the seriousness of his mental illness.  Please correctly state his condition as mental derangement. Mental impairment implies that you believe Trump suffers from something like a concussion.  A condition that will pass over time. I’ve stated the exact opposite of that. Donald Trump’s behavior will not reestablish itself back into any reliable state of equilibrium.  Why?  Because his delusional behavior instead presents as a persistent peaking effect of his mental psychosis.  Which means, Donald Trump spends more time in delusions than he does in reality.”

    1. Very kind of you to say! I’m very pleased with the story. Once I tried writing Bette using the third person narrator and the muse refused. She’s either in my ear on headphones, or there’s silence. I do, however, get to pick the pictures.

    2. Command, i am glad that you get to pick the pictures, they are absolutely stunning. Esspecially the picture from Nightingale. I admire horses for their strenght, beauty and kind heart.

The way you write Bette is very interesting and i love it!

One question, the picture from the woman , do you know the real name of her? She seems familiar, but it isn’t Laurel Holleman?

Thank you for the incredible chapter!

      • The actress Julianne Moore is the TV pundit in this story. Pleased that you enjoy the pictures, so delighted you found the chapter incredible. I’m pleased with it and it was very fun to write!

    3. Hi, Command:

Nice story and nice characterization of Bette Porter, but you left us in the middle of “something”, and in an odd place with someone, I would never guess, isn’t it Julianne Moore? Well anyway, I like your story and I’ll wait for your update. Thanks

      P

      • Yes, Bette showed us emotional range in that last chapter, from confidence to vulnerability… and more. In writing its conclusion I’d felt to extend that last scene with conversation between the two lovers would have taken the energy I’d built and brought it too quickly back to reality. To me, I like that we’re still imagining them in Room 303 at the Tabard Inn. In story time, it’s still the middle of the night so, anything is possible.

    4. Loved the chapter and Julianne Moore is a beautiful woman and wonderful actress but, she is no Laurel Holloman. Bette should always be in the arms of Tina Kennard. Will we ever see Tina for Bette, really hope so. Ir would have been wonderful for America and the world if something like this had really happened and none of us would have to be living with what we are in the Presidency. Really enjoy your writing. Thanks for posting.

    5. Let’s get Bette involved in the journalistic world of behind the scenes sources first. She’ll be furious, once Trump gets elected, and I imagine her focus will be directed toward women’s rights, science and technology fund cutting measures, climate denying Cabinet members and reams of their environmental rollbacks and replacement bills. All of this will upset her.

I’d love for Bette to meet Tina at the Women’s March. In story time that march is six days away.

Maria, the TV pundit and journalist, is a wonderful character and companion for Bette – to knock Bette back into the game-on mood for sexual dalliances.

Tina, as a heartful, but nonetheless crafty head of an NGO will be needed, as the story of Docter Porter’s deepening involvement — in what she views as a “nightmare presidency” unfolds.

I hope we all will learn from the backroom intel, she and others will be gathering. Cool themes about medical science, (you know she’ll be hot-headed on the threats of cutbacks to research, the environment and women’s issues.)

This narrative setting of Washington under crisis is target rich for storytelling.

If you can, please enjoy Julianne Moore as a juicy lover for Doctor Porter’s enjoyment at the moment, and let’s what happens…

      I truly appreciate your comment.

    6. Let’s get Bette involved in the journalistic world of behind the scenes sources first. She’ll be furious once Trump gets elected and I imagine her fury directed toward women’s rights, science and technology fund cutting measure and, of course, climate denying Cabinet members and reams of devastating environmental rollbacks and replacement bills that appear to insane. I’d love for Bette to meet Tina at the Women’s March. In story time that march is six days away.
