Chapter 7
“Duck,” the petite redhead said, pulling her best friend behind a parked car just across the street from their destination. Peaking around the fender, she let out a sigh of relief that no one has spotted them. But that relief was quickly dashed, “Damn the light is on. Well the plan is still a go we’ll just have to wait it out.”
“This plan is crazy! When I get kicked off the tennis team and no recruiter in the country wants me to play for their school and I end up flipping burgers at In-n-Out for the rest of my life I will blame you.”
Looking at the brunette thoughtfully Jamie replied, “But you’ll still give me free double-doubles, right?”
“Maybe after I spit in it,” Dana retorted with a small smile, moving to sit on the curb. Adjusting her backpack filled with their supplies she asked, “Why are we doing this again?”
“Because it’s on our list of things to do in life before we graduate and someone in this friendship has to be a damn overachiever. Seriously, I believe this is one of your contributions to the list.”
“Is that why I get stuck carrying everything? I think we over packed. It don’t think we are going to need all…”
“Always be prepared Dana,” Jamie interrupted another one of Dana’s rambling sessions, “didn’t anyone ever tell you that? And you get stuck carrying everything ‘cause you are so obviously the butch.”
“I’m the what,” Dana questioned her friend shaking her head in confusion?
“Jeez, come on Dana. I can’t be straight and know more about being gay than you! When are you going to poke your head a little bit out of the closet you’re hiding in….oh wait… I think he’s… damn he just turned on the tv. We may be here a while.” Noticing the brunette had gone silent, she turned to face her companion. “What’s the matter?”
“Jamie, I love you. For real. You are my best friend but you need to back the fuck off,” Dana said more than a little tick off. “I know you are concerned. But I am not ready to deal with all the shit that is going to hit the fan… and don’t even lie… you know my parents, my mother particularly, is going to flip. I’m gay; it’s not going to stop. So that means I have time to tell them when I am ready.”

Oh man, not Lara… Well, I guess I was expecting her to make an appearance since she was a big part of Dana’s life on the show, still… :( I mean, I kind of like Lara and I’m probably one of the few Danish fans who do, just not when she comes between Dana & Alice. Dana cracked me up at the part where she had no idea what “butch” meant. And “Don Juanita”… lol. That stupid coach got what he deserved. Glad the girls didn’t get caught, but Dana, even if she ended up flipping burgers at In-n-Out, would still be hot:) Can’t wait to see what happens next! Thanks for the great update!
What a great update, anionayo!! I absolutely love Jamie and what a good friend she is. The “covert op” was hysterical (black outfit, planning for in-and-out burger career, saran wrap the car). I once had someone bubble wrap my car. I find it very funny — now. The “butch” stuff was funny, too. Not really pleased about Lara showing up in the story. Dana’s reaction was spot-on, though (wait…wait…wait). Hopefully she is just a fling (if anything at all). Can’t wait to see what happens next! Thank you so much for another wonderful chapter to this great story!!
Well hell, I second 25justagirl on the whole Lara thing with the exception that i never liked her. I sooooo need to try the plastic wrap thing on a coworker-hehe! Dana needs to get away for a while and get her composure, i wonder if she will bump into Alice anytime soon? Hmmm, idk. You’re doing a wonderful job projecting their thoughts and feelings and i cannot wait to see what you have in store! Thanks anionayo for another great post!
