    “You should tell her. You guys would make the cutest couple at UCLA if not all of LA. I mean I know Bette and Tina are like considered the end all and be all for you lesbians. But you and Alice could totally give them a run for their money. “

     

    Chapter 23

    As Dana and Alice walked back to their table, the athlete glared at her sitting friends warning them that if Alice didn’t want to talk they were going to have to wait until she was damn well ready.  But the warning glare wasn’t necessary, once situated in their seats Alice laid it out.

     “So long story short: Andrew and I got in an argument last night at a club and he smacked me…”

    “He did what,” Tina, Bette, and Shane exclaimed furiously only to be shut up immediately by a look from Dana.

    “Hey. You all know I’m not putting up with that shit,” Alice said. “We are done. People at the club saw what happened and he was thrown out before I even had a chance to take my own swing at the little fucker.”

    “Looks like baby girl took care of that for you,” Kit said as she brought over an icepack for Dana’s hand. “That was a mean right cross girl. If I ever get in a fight I know who I am callin’.”

    “I…uh…thanks…” Dana stuttered as she blushed, not really knowing the correct response for the compliment.

    “Shit, Alice. I shoulda let Dane have another swing at the asshole,” Shane commented her eyes betraying her cool demeanor. “I swear if he show up around here..”

    “It is on,” Bette finished for Shane.

    Tina nodded her agreement, “No one mess with our family.”

    That last comment brought out the first real smile in Alice and in turn caused, Dana to smile and relax as well. Looking around the table at her friends the athlete thought, Yeah, this is a great family.

    “So what now Miss. Dana? Have you been training for a boxing career all this time and never told us,” Shane teased.

    “Oh yeah sure. Just call  me Dana Ali,” the athlete joked back only to receive an round of eye rolls. “Oh come on that was a good joke! Get it ? Muhammad Ali the famous boxer… Dana Ali…”

    “We got it,” Alice interrupted her explanation chuckling as the other tried to stifle their own laughter. “I just don’t think we wanted it.”

    Crossing her arm in a huff, Dana muttered, “I thought it was funny,” causing her friends to bust out in full laughter.

    2. LOL at the planet scene. Haha, Dana Ali! I hope her hand would not give her any trouble. How wonderful it was to have the coach looking out for her interest. I am so glad that D insisted on having Harrison as her partner. That’s our Dana!! Hopefully this time, Harrison’s words would get through D’s thick head. I must agree with Harrison that A & D were the cutest couple in LA. LMAO! anionayo, thank you very much as always.

    4. New chapter. Yay! I love how accepted Dana is by the group and that she realizes how special it is. I was a little nervous about what the coach had to tell Dana — I’m glad it was all good. She seems to be in good hands there. I love Dana’s loyalty, too. Harrison is a good friend. He feels close enough to tease, but, also knows when to stop and offer support. I hope it sinks in with Dana that Alice is interested in her. Thanks for the great update, anionayo!!
