    Angelica & The Artist 2 – Chapter 7

“Mom, Carolyn slow down ok. I have not even asked Angie yet. What if she says no?”

They all paused and looked at Lyndsay. Carolyn was the first to speak this time “that is not going to happen. She will say yes.”

“How can you be so sure?”

“Because it’s Angie and she loves you. Trust me, she will say yes.”

Lyndsay took a deep breath before she continued. “Ok, firstly, I have some other things to take care of first before I can even ask her.”

    “Like what?” asked Carolyn.

“Bette and Tina. I am going to go see them in LA later this week. I have to go meet with Helena Peabody about her house renovations and I plan to stop in and see Bette and Tina and ask them for their permission to ask Angie to marry me.”

Carolyn wasn’t sure she heard correctly. “Wait, you are going to ask them for her hand?” Then chuckling added “Isn’t that a little old fashioned Lynds?”

It was now David who interjected with his thoughts. “Carolyn, it may be old fashioned, but I can understand Lyndsay wanting to talk to them first. I remember when I decided that I wanted to marry Barbara. I went to see her father. Barb do you remember that?”

Barb smiled at the memory. She remembered hearing about how David had gone to see her father to ask for permission. It was traditional and so like David to want to do everything the right way. So it did not surprise her that he supported Lyndsay’s desire to follow suit.

“Yes dear I do remember. After I had said yes, you described to me how nervous you were when you went to see my Father.”

“I think I was more nervous asking him for your hand, than I was when I asked you. I kept thinking that he would say no.”

“What about me? You didn’t worry that I would say no?” she asked.

“Never crossed my mind. I knew you were the one, just as it would appear Lyndsay knows that Angie is the one for her.”

He then turned his attention to Lyndsay. “Sweetie, go to California, talk to Bette and Tina and after Angie says yes, which I am sure she will do, then we will start to make some plans. I’m pretty sure that Bette and Tina will have some thoughts as well, not to mention Angelica.”
