Angelica & The Artist 2 – Chapter 7
Barb had been silent up until now during this conversation, but even her curiosity was starting to get the better of her. “Lyndsay, please just tell us your news.”
“Well, as you know a lot has changed in my life this past year. Going public with my painting, the art show, moving to New York, meeting Ang.”
Her Mom just smiled. That was perhaps an understatement to say that her life changed when Angelica Kennard-Porter had come into it. Barb had never seen her daughter so happy, so full of life and energy.
Lyndsay continued. “I now understand what that connection is like when you find the right person. I love Angie. She has enriched my life in so many ways and has given me the confidence to proceed with my painting. When I am with her I feel complete, like my missing piece is there.”
Barb listened intently as her daughter described her feelings for her girlfriend. This was what she had always hoped that Lyndsay would find. It may not have been the conventional relationship she always envisioned for her, but her daughter was happy and that was all that mattered.
“So, that said, I have decided that I want to spend the rest of my life with her and I plan to ask her to do just that. I want to ask her to marry me.”
David and Barb just sat there not sure what to say. Both appeared stunned by the revelation. Marry? Did Lyndsay just say that she wanted to marry Angelica?
They did not have any issue with it, but could they really do this? Was it legal for them to marry?
They didn’t say anything at first so Lyndsay, nervous as she was continued.
“Now I know you are probably going to disagree with my decision, and that’s ok……., but I want you to know that I have thought this through and this is what I want.”
David stood up from his chair, moved to stand behind his wife and was the first to speak.
“Lyndsay, I have to say that I am a little surprised, as I am sure your mother is as well. This seems quite sudden and you have not known each other all that long.”
