A helping hand and a push in the right direction-CH. 9
SUNDAY AFTERNOON
I’m not sure how long I was sitting in my car when I heard a knock on my car window.
Shane: "Hey Bette are you alright?"
I opened my door and got out of the car. This is only the second day but again I’m feeling completely overwhelmed. Shane’s looking at me and I see that she’s concerned but I don’t know what to say so I just give her the document and proceed to go inside.
Shane is reading the paper that Bette gave her and is looking pretty shocked herself as she makes her way into the house.
Shane: "Wow I don’t know what to say. Did you ask Tina about this?"
Bette: "No. Eli told me about it before I talked to Tina but I didn’t want to bring it up until I actually saw it. Then I talked to Tina last night which in it of itself is very major but then we agreed not to talk about us until we could do it face to face. Now this, I mean she gave him my last name. Why would she do that? I know I said I’d wait to talk about us but how much restraint do she think I have…"
Shane: "Bette take a breath and calm down before you hyperventilate. Why don’t you sit down while I get you something to drink."
Bette sat down at the table while Shane got her some water.
Shane: "So what are you going to do?"
Bette: "I want to ask her why she left me nine years ago and told me to move on with my life. Why would she tell me to forget about her and then turn around and name her son Eli Porter Kennard. God I don’t have time for a meltdown right now I have to talk to everyone before I pick up Eli."
Shane: "You got him to come?"
Bette: Bette smiled a little. "Tina did, she…well she’s going to give me time to get know Eli better. Anyway Eli agreed to come today and meet everyone but Tina thought he’d be more comfortable if I told everyone about Eli before bringing him down here. I promised Tina that I would stick by Eli make sure he was alright, so I need to get everyone over here."

OMG this chapter had me rolling! Some memorable quotes: Alice: “It would be if he knew us. Face it Bette acting crazy is normal for us.” Kit: “Speak for yourself.”Alice: “Oh hold on I think I heard a car pull up. Bette’s back. Quick everyone act normal.”LMAO! That’s cool that Alice and Dana have a son Eli can play with. And methinks Eli’s “tan” has nothing to do with playing in the sun. ;)

Blue eyes,blond and a tan. sounds alot like a child Bette and Tina would have. except for the blue eyes hazel yes. Alice is such a crazy lady, Crazy is normal for us. Hope they don’t scare him to death. Eli is really a cute kid he will win their hearts just like Tina did a long time ago. Eli will come up the winner if Tina lets Bette be a part of his life. thanks for posting

I love this story so much, it brings laughter and tears, hanging out for the Bette/Tina meeting; love the ‘crazy’ family is still hanging together and that Dana and Alice have a son….love love love this story..more soon as apossible please.

This story was sooo funny, I loved it! I think they will scare Eli…lol. Tina might as well start packing their bags because he will love his family so much she will have no choice but to move. I hope your telling us that Bette will be Eli’s guardian if anything happens to Tina is not a foreshadowing of what is to come.
Oh this is a wonderful story. Tan?, no, I wonder if Tina sneaked into town and got impregnated with Marcus’ sperm 89 years ago. Anywho, that child is not just tanned, he is of mixed race, probably Marcus and now he is more than Tina’s son, he is also Bette’s son. Whatcha bet? I Love It. …”Acting crazy is normal”… And I will also bet that the car pulling up is not Bette but, Tina, she could not wait until the next weekend. Please let it be Tina.

This story gets better and better with each chapter (not that it was not awesome to begin with). I just know that the girls will love Eli and that he will love them. Really looking forward to seeing Tina with Bette again and then Tina explaining why Eli has Bette’s last name as part of his name. Yeah, summer school is extremely demanding. Glad that you are able to bring this story to us.
