    A crush, a meeting then love?? – Chapter 17

Lara, hi. Tina says and smiles, and then looks at Bette for her reaction.

So you two? Oh my I feel like an idiot, Im sorry Tina about the whole thing. Lara says.

    Its okay, Lara. Tina replies.

Bette, Im sorryI Lara says as shes interrupted by Bette.

Lara, its okay. Bette says. Why dont you join us fro lunch? Bette says.

Both Tina and Lara is surprised.

Yeah, if its okay with Tina. Lara replies.

    Yeah, its okay. Tina agrees.

Well go and find a table. Bette says and grab Tinas hand and walk outside and into the restaurant. They sit down at a tale by the window, looking out on the tennis courts.

Shortly after, Lara joins them. Bette had brought three menus. They ordered each a salad.

Hey Lara, have you talked with Sarah lately? Tina asks looking at Lara with a sad look.

Yeah, weve stayed in touch since I left home. She was actually out here visiting me 5 months ago. Lara replies.

Oh. Tina says a little disappointing. How is she? Tina asks again.

Shes good, Shes in the last year of college. Lara replies.

What is she studying? Tina asks.

Havent you talked to her lately? Lara asks.

No, I havent spoken with anyone back home in over 5 years. Tina says.

Wow, I didnt know that, neither of them has said anything. Lara replies.

Tina bows her head down. Bette put her hand on Tinas shoulder.

Hey, Tina can I ask why not? Lara asks.

After a few seconds of silence, Tina speak.

I told my mom and dad that I was a *****, they threw me out, and I havent talked to them since. And I never heard anything from Sarah or Chris after that, so mom and dad must have told them. Tina says as a single tear find its way down her cheek.

Im sorry, Sarah never told me that. Lara replies a little surprised.

Its okay, look, does she know that you are *****? Tina asks.

No, not a lot of people do. I think you and the other ones I have been with are the only ones who know. I have been with guys too. Lara says.

Oh, I see. Have you seen my mom and dad too? Tina asks.

Yeah, Im sorry Tina. About theyve talking to you. Lara says.

Yeah, well done is done. So how are they? Tina asks.

Theyre good, they had a wedding vows renewal last year, so at least they are happy. Lara says. That makes Tina to cry a little.

Excuse me for a second. Tina says and stands up and walks out and into the bathroom.

Bette looks sad, and she follows Tina with her eyes as Tina walks into the bathroom. She wait a minute or two, then she stands up.

Excuse me too, Lara, well be right back, I just have to check on her. Bette says.

Sure, Ill be here. Lara says and smiles. Bette walks after Tina.

Bette walks into the bathroom, she hears Tina cry, she locks the door, so no one would come in.

Tee? Are you okay? Come out please. Bette says in soft loving voice. Tina slowly opens the door to the stall she was in. Her eyes are red and tears are dripping.

Bette walks up to her and pulls her into a hug.

Im sorry Tee, I wish I could make it better. Bette says as she rubs Tinas back softly.

Tina cries and holds on tight to Bette.

I wish they could just realize how stupid it is, how can parents just shut their kid off, just because who she chooses to be with? Had I killed someone or something serious like that, then I would understand. But this, this is innocent. Tina cries on Bettes shoulder.

I know Tee, I know. Bette says softly.

    1. i can understan bette and not being ready. and i commend tina for waiting. bette isnt tough and its only so long you can control yourself. i know that when my first time does arrive as much as i want it i would be scared shitless. especially if i am in love with the person. is that weird?

    2. What a delightful surprise : just after I left my last comment, I discover this new chapter ! As always, you are pretty generous with your updates and we are spoiled readers, thanks !

As I already said, I DEEPLY appreciate your so engaging and sweet race as a storyteller. It would have be so easy and so expected to bring an intense drama full of jealousy and misunderstanding right now and I admire the way you decided to depict Bette, Tina and Lara’s reactions with so much delicacy. Just a little prickle of fear and insecurity right before to let confidence and tenderness win the fight. Great.

For me, it’s priceless to see our Bette slowly realize herself. She’s certainly not a “hard nut to crack” but simply a woman who discovers an unexpected and deeply moving chapter of her life, with understanding little fears and new feelings, and Tina is so right to let things happened naturally.
Wonderful job, Lauren, please continue this way !

    3. oh man poor poor Tina parents are important but we have to move on if they not underestand what love is..right?..and about Bette she loves Tina so very much and i hope she realize soon she is ready to show Tina how much she loves her in a special way..lol..and Tina has needs too ohh and please make Dana and Alice be together… not Lara ok?..lol..do i have to say that chapter was really cute? i dont think so.. post real real soon thanks ;o)

    4. Ohh, poor Tina. That sucks that her parents just cut her off like that. This story is great and I look forward to reading more. Please post soon!

    5. Lauren,
Nice chapter…Parents are important however, I think back to the marriage vows of old, …”forsaking all others, cleaving only unto him/her for as long as you both shall live” are powerful committment words. Once you have chosen your life partner, they deserve no less than that committment.
Parents that turn their backs on their children, have done so to their own creation. We are who we are because of our up bringing and genetics. Our parents gave us both. What will it take to get people to understand that being gay is not a choice?

I hope that Bette will soon throw caution to the wind and take the plunge to consumate her relationship with Tina.

    6. some parents are just stupid…. how can they hate their children… well its their loss… love this story… and i know bette will be ther for tina… please continue

    7. Lauren, your writing is a pure joy to read! It’s nice to know that Tina and Bette’s love for each other, though new, is already able to withstand obstacles that life throws them…I’m sure that the one Tina is facing w/her parents will be another one they’ll overcome together. It’s touching how much love Tina has for Bette in that she is willing to go at Bette’s pace. I think it would be awesome if they waited until they had their commitment ceremony! I’m probably alone on that thought, though ~lol~ Thnks
